  1. Obviously, he is going to say he was very happy with it lol
  2. I regret buying the first Home Alone expansion since they redid it just a few years later.
  3. That reminds me of this: (which I think works better than Hook, personally)
  4. I love the aesthetic unity of all three looking like they were made in MS paint. What a choice!
  5. Mine came but the first track has skipping all over it 😔. There’s no visible scratches on the CD, so not sure what happened. Check ya discs, folks
  6. The statement 49 seconds into the album Jungle Chase is some of JW’s finest thematic-action writing period.
  7. When I saw his Philly concert in 2022, people were either in dress clothes or Jedi robes.
  8. This is disingenuous. Like every other part of the academy, the music branch is made up of a large group of voters that breaks down into smaller blocks. Clearly a large amount of voters appreciate the craftsmanship of Williams’ scores, just as a large group of voters like the shit Santaolalla spews, but that doesn’t mean that every member of the branch is responsible for every nomination. That’s like saying every Democrat is responsible when a Republican is elected and vice versa in the US. There doesn’t have to be any overlap between the two for both to score a nomination.
  9. Their previous opinions will be contorted to serve whatever their current argument is. All they know is they loved Spiderverse and want it to get more things.
  10. Glad the score for Attack of the Clones is finally Oscar nominated, two decades late.
  11. There are some small bits of tracking to create false endings too. I’m reasonably confident the final note of Helena Runs is the end of Battle of Syracuse cut short. The end of Departures is material from Voller’s interview looped. I’m trying to think if I noticed any others.
  12. This has always been my interpretation, that he leans into his cute “old man” persona. Take him “forgetting” which Star Wars “Across the Stars” was from three nights in a row in the April 2022 concerts.
  13. Scherzo for violin and motorcycle? Has that been debuted elsewhere? I don’t recall hearing of that ASM arrangement before now.
  14. I will say that the pleasure of this set has been rediscovering a score I thought I knew like the back of my hand from the sessions and previous LLL album. Having the songs and alternates really has added a ton of depth to the grandeur of what exactly Williams was going for with this score in a way previous presentations did not. Themes like the Mothers and Believe melodies previously blended together to me as generic Williams sentimental themes, but hearing them in song form has helped me understand their dramatic purposes much better.
  15. I’m just not gonna bemoan that there were imperfect releases before now. I’d rather have had something all these years than nothing. Obviously, this score deserved the Ultimate Edition from day one, though.
  16. While that would certainly make for an exciting few weeks, I’d still rather not have waited 30+ years for more Hook. Like is too short for that. A lot of folks who loved the Hook score when it came out are probably dead now. Personally, I’m grateful I had the previous expanded album before my hearing started to decline. “How much of human life is lost in waiting.”
  17. I assume it’s because that was taken from the film stems, and the film stems faded into the opening of Farewell Neverland, so there was no other way to include it because they couldn’t be separated.
  18. Just lots of extremely jarring edits. If you haven’t listened to it, I’d recommend listening to the film version of Battle of Syracuse, which, imo, is the worst offender. There’s also lots of these weird, artificial reverb cuts they did on some of the cues to stretch them out, I guess. There isn’t really any editing around it, and it sounds like shit. Also tons of looping which is nearly impossible to remove in many cases.
