How'd you get into John Williams, and film scores in general?
Taikomochi replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
I'd been familiar with the most popular Williams scores(Star Wars, ET, etc.), but I absolutely loved the opening title to War Of The Worlds, prompting me to check the soundtrack out from the library. Up until that point, I didn't really listen to any music at all. I went from there to the HP soundtracks and so on. -
Williams? Yes or no?

Which is now your favourite Indiana Jones score?
Taikomochi replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
I'm gonna be a maverick and pick KotCS! No, not really. I chose ToD. Raiders and KotCS are on the same level for me, and i never really liked LC. -
I always loved The Chairman's Waltz, if that is a love theme. Vertigo also had a lovely love theme. As did Marnie.

Strange that it would mention the score for TDK even though they'd been denied. Is that unreleased music playing? It could be from Begins, but it seems unlikely to me they'd reuse themes. Just me, though. EDIT: No, that's unreleased. There's a part that sounds like a different mix of a part from "A Dark Knight".

Terminator : Sarah Connor Chronicles(corny, but I love it) BSG Sarah Silverman Program(haven't watched in ages, though) 24

I gave my old copy to my friend. It was a bit scratched up anyways.

Wouldn't work anyway - it'll just make that section sound mono, and that'll be even worse Temple is easily my favourite of the four scores now. The complexity and sheer energy in the score, as well as how effortlessly Williams juggles the march, Shorty's theme and the love theme is becoming addictive. *sigh* So no one else has this problem?

Oh sorry, I hadn't even seen that recent one. I thought I'd been more vigilant. Well, my question was answered. Thanks.

I'd never really been familiar with the Bond scores as none of them really interested me, but I was reading on Wikipedia(the best source of info, I know!) and it mentioned about how Monty Norman claimed to have written the theme and even got damages from the courts because he had not received credit. I had always thought it was John Barry. So I guess what I'm asking is, what is the general consensus here about who wrote it? Or has it since become a known fact about who wrote it?

I hear the slightest blip in the left channel at the beginning of The Desert Chase at the very beginning of the Track on my CD. If I really cared, I would just edit it so the right channel plays for both in that part, but I'd prefer not to. If anyone else is experiencing this, I'd feel much better. Is anyone?

Apart from Hedwig's theme, which is your favorite HP theme?
Taikomochi replied to Jessie Lohner's topic in General Discussion
I love Double Trouble. I actually hate the children's choir rendition, but when it's used at the beginning of the end credits, I get goosebumps! -
I like that cue personally. It recycles well a cue from the last film which I never liked but does it better plus it has that action theme really quiet in the background which I never liked either but enjoyed in this cue.

Umm, they've only done 2. Gah. It was a simple error! Stop correcting him(you and whoever else did it). I would love to see Williams, but it seems maybe it would be hard considering how much he's missed. I mean, the wonderful themes progressed through the first 3 films, but as the next 2 came on, that progression faded away. It would seem hard for Williams to regain that command of the themes, to me anyways, and maybe a bit out of place. Although never out of place compared to these dreadful replacements.

Nobody, and I mean, NOBODY at my school knows who JW is. Maybe a teacher here and there, but the only people who know who he is know because I told them.
-
I like Across The Stars better, but as a whole score, Hook is better.

When have you seen Williams in concert?
Taikomochi replied to Taikomochi's topic in General Discussion
Did he remember you the second time? -
Just curious. I saw him in 2002 at the Blossom center near Cleveland, Ohio, I believe. He performed Hedwig's Theme, E.T., Across The Stars, and some other stuff I can't recall. I wish I'd met him, though.
