Definitely - there's a moment in the beginning (of the full cue) where there's this building momentum and then this declaratory statement of the Indy theme comes swinging in and it always leaves me awestruck how he shifts between all these dramatic modes going from complexity to complexity.

My hot take is the complete Jungle Chase is the best extended setpiece Williams wrote for any of these. Incredible, incredible action scoring, thrilling in its complexity.

Using this topic to ask... in one scanned version of the script that I got off the internet, there are studio evaluations and comments attached at the end. Including... well...

excuse me but what the everloving pile of jesus fuck is this??? No trace of such a thing in the script itself, it's very close to the final film in general. It's not even in the treatment which is further in details but still close enough. Did some dumbass studio heads misunderstand some pitch relayed to them through 5 other people this badly???

The score to KOTCS is ultimately the reason why I'm on this forum.

I loved the Indy movies as a kid. They were my favorite thing ever. But went through that teenager thru college thru post college phase where I couldn't be bothered with anything I liked in my childhood (even though if brought up I would show appreciation)

When KOTCS was about to come out the Indy movies played on the USA channel for multiple weeks straight. One weekend I watched them all and I just re-fell in love with everything Indiana Jones. I blame John Williams.

I remember when the score came out I bought it and going to FYE (remember that store) and asking if they had the raiders of the lost ark score available. Little did I know when it came to scores...

Long story short here I am.

So I'm thankful for KOTCS in that regards.

KOTCS’s score is so so good. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I have a feeling that when it gets remastered and expanded, more people on here will come to appreciate it. The recording session leak is awesome, but when we have about the same thing C&C, and in better quality, there’ll be more fans.

There's your problem. You're comparing the game to something that never existed; a speculative version of a game with a virtually limitless set of parameters. Those rumours were invented by people wanting clicks on websites. This is why I don't read speculation or rumours about things before they come out, because nothing can compare to the imagination.

The game, for what it is - and what it builds upon from BOTW is - IMO, nothing short of staggering. It makes BOTW look like a prototype. The sheer scale of it, while being neither overwhelming or tedious, is a feat in and of itself.

I think the OST suffers from some of the most boring choices one could make, but the score itself it brilliant.  For instance, I have always loved Mutt's theme.  It barely fits the character we are seeing, but the movie would have been better had that character been realized closer to the theme. Irina comes closer to being realized but Williams nails the archetype so perfectly, the score outpaces her.  I wonder if we are going to get a similar "gap" between Helena and her theme.

I think it's more that as Williams fans, we take pride in how much he's been able to keep his artistic integrity and sense of authorship through this business. So it means a lot that in his 90s he's still keeping that level of control over his music even as the modern filmmaking process would understandably make it harder than ever.

I don't think anyone here would prefer a "themes by JW, score by William Ross".

Unless we have Ross fans out there somewhere hidden in the forum...

It's literally called "John Williams Fan Network", not "Other Composers Who Scored John Williams Franchises Fan Network".

I ran this sample through AudD and AHA, a couple of Chrome music recognition tools (like Shazam, but recognise non-commercial tracks too) and both came back with this exact title but no album cover, which tends to happen with library music. Hence the track it's from is in some music database somewhere.

If this is a sample of the last track on the album, that makes sense, but why 'Trailer Version' is in the title is just weird, unless Williams has bizarrely opted to name an album track like that.

On principle, I never watch YouTube videos where the thumbnail has the youtuber making some stupid ass face like that. That’s how you identify people who just make contrarian opinions for clicks, and they shouldn’t be rewarded. It hasn’t steered me wrong thus far.

It's that time again, maybe for the last time, when only a select few people have seen JW's latest movie and can offer frustratingly vague and arbitrary comments on the score.

I think it's more or less the type of thumbnail we're judging.

But to your point, take Chris Stuckmann. He does those dopey thumbnails. And I will admit he's not toxic and a genuinely fair, respectful reviewer with decent points. But his reviews are always incredibly surface level with really nothing deeper than a mild opinion.

But we're mostly all shitting on the stereotypical thumbnail.
