Through the generosity of someone outside Lincoln Center who had an extra ticket (and refused any money for it) I ended up with an incredible fifth row orchestra dead center seat. I was able to attend the dinner and after party as well thanks to someone who had to leave before dinner. It was amazing to be so close to JW.
 
Chris Martin performed “Fanfare for Solo Trumpet” at the start of the dinner. JW spoke at the dinner for several minutes and made a number of jokes about his granddaughter saying he’s not woke after hearing him call the NY Phil President “babe” and “angel,” and JW argued that it’s one of the things you can get away with being 91. He declared that he’d have to continue working until he’s 100. He also called for political change against the Trump sorts (though he didn’t mention Trump by name). Hillary Clinton attended the dinner but didn’t speak (though I was able to get a selfie with her, not included below).
 
The after party was quite tame with no sign of Williams or others. I didn’t see anyone dancing.

I ran into Hillary Clinton on the way out of the first tier. 

I will conduct/tabulate a 3rd Top 10 John Williams score this August. 2023. I did this in 2003 and 2013. I want to wait until August 2023 for one important reason . I want to give John his due for the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny 
The maestro has put significant time and effort into this score. and we as fans need time to absorb and process his latest score.  
In my mind its the right thing to do.
 
In august we can begin the discussion. 
The rules will.be simple. Each member will post his top 10 scores
As to the scores I will only accept a single score not a series

Pretty much inaudible in the clip lol, but consistent with his other recent action music as far as I can tell 🤷‍♀️ 

I hear way more Gordy Haab quoting old Star Wars than JW quoting him. I'm begging some of you to learn the difference between similar and the same. 
JW's style has become much more organic, elastic, and mature in voice. He's less concerned with writing "immediate" scores. It's not worse, just different. Like the late period of many composers who lived long enough to have one.

These are very good, but I would say that all of Williams scores in this time are just as great (well, I would say better). Williams just scores fewer movies.  Is that all we mean by "past his prime," or are you saying that Powell's current scores are better than Williams's current scores?  
 
 

I love this reflexive passage on The Sacred Jedi Texts (1:48 - 2:15). It reminds me of some warm parts in Attack of the Clones. 
 
And I know TLJ is criticized a lot for the overuse of the Force theme, but the Binary Sunset performance that follows is so consistent to what came before. Overall, a great cue.

TLJ is the best film(and music) of all sequels and prequels. Fits the last comments and the title of this thread. 

You're absolutely right. SUPERMAN shits all over STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES from a very great height.
 
 
 
Yet it still manages to be the best film of the ST, by a country mile.

War Horse had the best musical themes since Jurassic Park.

Tintin is Wiliams's best score of the last 19 years (or since POA).  A compete score release would win converts to my cause.  

Unpopular opinion: Call of the Champions is Williams’ best olympic theme.
