  1. It's a joke...Jackson runs the Triangle offense.......
  2. I thought I saw John Williams sitting behind Phil Jackson.......
  3. To get a full range of Goldsmith I would recommend these titles: 1. Patton - Film Score Monthly release or Varese Re-recording 2. The Blue Max 3. The Omen 4. Night Crossing - Intrada 5. Total Recall - Varese Deluxe Edition 6. The Challenge - Prometheus 7. Alien 8. Planet of The Apes - Varese (yes I know most people would say it's a difficult listen but it's worth it) 9. Tora Tora Tora - Film Score Monthly release 10. The Sand Pebbles - Varese Cd Club release 11. The Final Conflict 12. Hoosiers 13. Basic Instinct 14. Rudy 15. The Illustrated Man 16. Star Trek The Motion Picture I know it's more than 10 but these are some of my favorites.
  4. It's a composer's promo (CDR). It was sent free with a large order I placed from Buysoundtrax.com's ebay store. I was suprised to find it in my package but I'm not complaining. I've heard a rumor that it may see a legit release sometime this spring.
  5. Christopher Lennertz's Medal Of Honor Rising Sun is actually good in my opinion.
  6. Actually if I'm not mistaken The Lion King draws it's inspiration from Japanese Anime cartoon called Kimba. Other than James Earl Jones there is no comparison to Star Wars.
  7. There were actually 3 movies that I really enjoyed going to: The Return Of The King Finding Nemo Bruce Almighty As for Scores Return Of The King The Robe (Varese CD Club) Predator (Varese CD Club) I could go on and on but a large majority of the scores I bought this year were from films released years ago.
  8. The Jungle Book - Basil Poledouris King Kong - Max Steiner
  9. Yeah. MST3K. There's some satire for Verhoeven. Oh wait...it'd be against him, not for him. Just as good. Dan--who wouldn't mind remaking Total Recall someday Please don't consider re-making it. I though Starship Troopers was brilliant satire.
  10. I found it very interesting to try.
  11. Star Wars, The Fury, Jaws, E.T. and Jaws 2 are my favorite Williams origianl release albums.
  12. How bout doin it to Duel Of The Fates? I voted for option 3. While I enjoy the film I'm just tired of hearing Horner's clang clang clang, piano smashing, 4 note danger motif repeated over and over. I just find his music to be boring. It would be a different story if he was in his 70's approaching the end of his career but the man ran out of fresh ideas in his 30's.
  13. Total Recall is a very good film with one of Jerry's best scores.
  14. Scores I've regretted buying: (I've since gotten rid of most of them) Ransom - Ron Howard rejected Howard Shore's score for this piece of crap???? Mr. Holland's Opus - kinda boring Goldeneye -ugh, what were they thinking????? Deep Impact - recommended for insomnia Titanic - cheezy and overrated, but not the film, the movie is worth the praise Back To Titanic - see above Cliffhanger - They should have just hired Alan Silvestri, sounds like the damn thing was written by him anyways. Armageddon - what in the name of hell was I thinking?????? A decent theme but man most of the action cues give me a headache Crimson Tide - See above
  15. Most of the dramatic cues from the film aren't on the cd. Most of the music is jazzy and early 70's much like some of the earlier cues on The Towering Inferno score.
  16. Shouldn't Earthquake be in the list as well? I know it was one of the top grossing films for the year it was released although the Cd presentation left off alot of the dramatic underscore.
  17. The theatres around where I live have raised prices by .25 to .50, moved the matinee prices from 5:00pm to 2:00pm. So for me and my wife plus my two teenage kids to go to a movie, have popcorn and drinks cost me $50.00 +. While nothing beats watching a film in a theatre I'm even more pickier about what films I go see. As for The Village, if that is indeed the true nature of the film, it shouldn't matter if the film is actually good.
  18. I bought about 30+ film scores in 2003.
  19. After Episode III he needs to stop. Anakin's fall to the Dark Side has been pretty lackluster. I can't imagine Episode's 7 8 & 9 being any better. Plus I don't want any other composer other than Williams to score the films. The only interesting trilogy would be to make Timothy Zahn's Heir To The Empire books into films but that won't happen.
  20. I usually associate the music with images in my head not related to the film it was written for. Alot of it depends on how I'm feeling mood wise. Sometimes I try to imagine the orchestra and composer perfroming the music.
  21. While I think all the praise for Goldsmith's Timeline is overhyped, much like Nemesis, I will purchase the score since Varese is making the effort to release it. Plus I still enjoy listening to Jerry's music .
  22. Films that I'm looking forward to and that i will actually pay money to go see: Terminal Shrek 2 the Incredibles Spiderman 2 The Village
  23. Clearly this is one the year's best movie. Visually the film is breathtaking, the acting superb and for a 3+ hour film it moves very quickly. This film tugs at your emotions and delivers a satisfying end to the LOTR. Peter Jackson exceeded my expectations for all 3 films and for that I thank him.
  24. Once you see the film I think you get a greater appreciation for the music. While I really loved the music when I first got the CD, hearing it in the film makes me enjoy it even more.
