  1. That's what they said about ROTK and then they loved it Yeah but unlike the Harry Potter films the LOTR movies are actually great films. If Williams wasn't scoring these film I would have no interest at all.
  2. Atlantis would be the one to buy. Sleeping With The Enemy is ok but not a must have.
  3. I'm just excited about the score for HP3 to be released plus Williams score for Terminal as well. -Mark, who dreads the thought of having to sit thru 3+ hours of Harry Potter in a theatre.
  4. I picked up copies of Medal Of Honor Underground and Medal Of Honor Frontline and I'm impressed. Hopefully The Incredibles will be the break he needs because he is certainly better than the MV factory crap, BT or any other person with a keyboard who thinks they can write film music.
  5. You must have missed the ugly CGI Anakins in AOTC.
  6. Happy New Year to all of you!!!!! beerchug -Mark, who didn't get to drink because he was sick with a censored stomache virus.
  7. The Varese recording of Superman is ok, some of the tempos are off but since Rhino released the original there was no need for me to keep it. Now the Varese Jaws recording is a major disappointment. I don't know if its due to the miking, orchestrations or what but everytime the shark theme is played it sounds exactly the same, nothing like the Decca version where each time you hear the theme it has a different orchestration. Plus music is missing from The First Victim, where they find Chrissie's remains. The CD booklet describes A Tug On the Line as a scene that doesn't even occur in the film at all, a fisherman being eaten by the shark. (On the JAWS Signature Edition Laserdisc it mentions in an early draft of the script there was a scene similar to that and a few sketches were done but it was never filmed. Dunno if that was included on the DVD since they trimmed down some of the extras.) Given McNeely's excellent Herrmann recordings I was very disappointed in Jaws. Basically it sounds like he combined orchestrations between the Decca and Williams original album
  8. I'm with Neil, I like 1941 as well.
  9. The press release states it as a deluxe edition so I would imagine it will be quite lengthy. Could this possibly be a good sign that Paramount may be willing to open their vaults?????
  10. Yeah I read that over at FSM as well but I can't find any other info confirming it. That for me would be the only reason to actually go see this film
  11. I must admit that I'm impressed from the little I've heard of Giacchino. Hopefully The Incredibles will give him the big break he needs.
  12. I've seen CE3K in it's various formats 5 times in a theatre. What I wouldn't give for a 6th time.
  13. Williams also stated he wished he had more input on Shadows of the Empire but praised McNeely so I don't think he was down of Davis. Plus didn't Williams suggest Davis?
  14. I don't really play anything more at X-mas other than the Home Alone scores. My listening habits are the same through out the year.
  15. JNH's Peter Pan won't make you forget Hook anytime soon and there are no memorable themes but it is a nice score in my humble opinion. It's worth checking out.
  16. Comparing a 2 minute trailer to a 3 and 1/2 hour film is ridiculous. Until this thread I never knew this film existed and had a hard time finding any info about it at all. While it may turn out to be a good film, the lead actors/actresses in this project do not impress me nor has most of their work. We'll see if todays MTV audience can handle this type of film. The Rocketeer was a good film and critically praised if memory serves me right, but bombed at the box office.
  17. Yet people will flock to see it and studios will continue to let Bruckheimer make his films.
  18. I have that album!!!!!!! My mom bought for me back in 1980 or 81 for Christmas. I haven't listened to it in about 15 years. It's somewhere in her garage in a box of some of my old LPs. -Mark, who now is going to be stuck with Anthony Daniels singing "Christmas In The Stars" in his head all day. banghead

  20. The top of the bridge was designed to look like the chasm rocks so it blended in. If you go back and watch the film you will see that Indiana is actually on a bridge when he takes his leap of faith. The camera angle is underneath the bridge and shows it to be a rock bridge. Also Jones threw rocks and dirt on the bridge to make it visible, that's how Elsa and Donovan were able to cross it. It was an optical illusion to trick your mind and test your faith. Who in their right mind voted for Raiders!!?!?!?!?!? I enjoy all three, but I agree with Joe on one aspect of TLC; the visuals were kinda sloppy. The birds & plane sequence was especially weak.
  21. Wasn't DePalma one of the few who told Lucas Star Wars would flop back in 77? I agree with Joe, I've never cared for the title A New Hope. To me it's always been Star Wars.

  25. Seriously, while J. Williams is my favorite composer and I do think he is the best, there is so much more to film music and many other composers have written great scores. What Howard Shore has done for the LOTR trilogy is well deserving of the praise and awards he has received.
