Well I did see Looney Tunes and it was awful. The rest of the audience I saw it with and box office numbers kinda agree with me.
-
Well I wasted money on The Cat In The Hat and Looney Tunes Back In Action. 2 very disappointing movies that weren't even funny. Dr. Suess, Chuck Jones, Mel Blanc, Friz Freleng, Tex Avery and Carl Stalling must be rolling over in their graves now.
-
That would cost alot of money and time to do. I don't think that would be a good idea. Of course it would give Lucas a chance to make more money by releasing another 2 CD set from each film and drain our wallets.

Basically if a score is recorded in Los Angeles with a Studio Orchestra then re-use fees will apply, which will affect how much music Varese or any other label can release. If the score is recorded overseas or with a non union orchestra then there are no re-use fees. I believe that's correct but Ford A. Thaxton or someone else such as Robert Townson at Varese could probably give you a better answer.
-
I would recommend it. It's one of Newman's finest.
-
Dante's Peak - JNH wrote the main theme, John Frizzell wrote the rest. Goldsmith did score Radeck's Death from AF1. Varese wanted to include it on the CD but the Re-use fees were too high. I believe Robert Townsend mentioned that in an e-mail to one of the Message Boards awhile back.

Return Of The King SCORE Discussion
Ollie replied to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal's topic in Tolkien Central
I can't wait, from what I've heard of the samples online this score sounds great. -
It gets released here in the States tommorrow, Varese has the tracklisting with times up.
-
http://www.varesesarabande.com/details.asp...1103%2D1025%2D2 Miguel it is assembled from the original film elements. Plus it is a two disc set with 90+ minutes of music. I ordered mine right away, Varese only pressed 1500 copies.
-
You're lucky to get 47 minutes. This score was more than likely recorded in L.A. with union musicians so Varese probably could only afford to release a certain amount of music.

Worst orchestrations you've ever heard?

I'll agree with Drax on Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla and Godzilla 2000. Takayuki Hattori did an awful job. -
How did the trailer affect your desire to see 'Azkaban'?

and you will thank her for it. No, but she puts up with NFL Sundays so I guess I owe her. -
This is truly sad. My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed.

There are some missing cues from the Jaws 2 CD, the one that stands out the most is the scene where Brody wades out and finds the burnt remains of the boat driver. The Main Title is also different in the film and there are a few snippets throughout the film; the shark's arrival in Amity Harbour, Brody looking at the Diver's film and a minute or so missing from the Big Jolt. There are few cues that seem to have a different tempo as well so it may be a re-recording since Williams tends to do so.

I'm just waiting for the score to be released, although my wife will drag me to the theatre to watch it. -
Saw Looney Tunes Back In Action, I thought Space Jam was better. Actually when Bugs and the rest of the Looney Tune characters are on their own the film picks up but when the live action takes over the film isn't funny. Very disppointing.

Before everyone starts panicking you might want to read this: http://film.guardian.co.uk/lordoftherings/...1082589,00.html

Bernard Herrmann is credited as a sound consultant on The Birds I believe.

8 Simple Rules returned last night with an hour long episode, my wife cried during the whole show. It was rather sad, I wonder how it will hold up.

If I remember correctly I think Warner Bros., not Tim Burton, may have wanted williams to score Batman. I thought I had read that somewhere before. As for Shadows of the Empire, Williams expressed some disappointment in not being asked by Lucasfilm for input, since it was his music. I think his word were " A lack of tact on Lucasfilm's part."
-
Williams was never attached to the Color Purple. Spielberg was brought on board just before the film was scheduled to start shooting and Quincy Jones had already named himself as composer. As for the Williams - Titanic connection you can find it in this book:Titanic and The Making of James Cameron: The Inside Story of the Three-Year Adventure That Rewrote Motion Picture History. there is a chapter that discusses Williams possible involvment. I believe it states that Cameron wanted Williams but he was busy scoring The Lost World. Horner was represented by the same agency that Williams was and one of his (Horner's)agents got his hands on copy of the script and showed it to Horner. Horner immediately fell in love with the story and met with Cameron and the rest is history. Not too sure about these but Williams was asked to score Meteor and Clash Of The Titans but recommended Laurence Rosenthal instead.

My 3 favorites that I never miss are: NYPD Blue Friends E.R. Others that I enjoy: George Lopez Scrubs My Wife and Kids Yes Dear Everybody Loves Raymond although Monday Night Football comes first. I do like Coupling and I hope NBC gives it a chance, also 8 Simple Rules before John Ritter passed was another favorite. It's returning this coming Tuesday (Nov. 4th). I don't know if it can be as successful without him. As for shows I hate, any of the reality shows.

classicfm :: top 50 movie soundtracks
Ollie replied to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal's topic in General Discussion
That list is a joke. Only one score each for Steiner, Goldsmith and Rosza? No Alex North, no Korngold, no Herrmann!?!?!?!?! And while Williams is deserving of some of those it's kinda of stupid to lump all three movies into one spot.
