  1. I think it's all gossip. I know Peter Jackson is smarter then this.

BTW, if its true and he is planning a remake then not to worry, it's just only a idea, a plan. And we all know what that means in Motion Picture land. I would rather like Williams to do something really...totally different.

Perhaps "Music for chamber orchestra "or "Pieces for a  string quartet".

(Remember or listen to Jane Eyre: Festivity at Thornfield) :)

No this is something that Peter Jackson has been trying to get going since 1996 I believe. There should be an early draft of the script floating around the net somewhere and there was a pic PJ with an early prototype sculpture of Kong & a T-Rex. Here is the announcement:

  2. The only two CDs that I'm missing that have seen a legit release to include Varese, FSM etc as well are The Accidental Tourist and Spacecamp, although I do have CDRs of them. I had at one time the Gerdhardt re-recordings and alot of the Boston Pops cds but I've gotten rid of alot of them due to the release of the complete versions and the non related Williams material on the Boston Pops cds.

  3. The original King Kong, along with Max Steiner's wonderful score, was and still is a classic. John Barry wrote a great score for a real stinker of remake in 1976. Barry's Kong was the first soundtrack I ever owned, I remember purchasing it in 1976. I was able to find the CD to his score and I truly wish it could see an expanded re-mastered release.

I would love to see Williams score this but I have mixed feelings about this re-make. My opinion of Peter Jackson went up after viewing the first 2 LOTR films, so I have faith he could pull it off but look at what happened to my beloved Godzilla and the failure of Mighty Joe Young a few years ago. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

  4. I agree with Joe, 2001 is one of the dullest films and one of the most overrated films in the history of cinema. The only good thing to come from it was the chance to hear Alex North's score that Kubrick threw out.

I never got a chance to see Jaws in the theatre. :|

Unfortunately I saw Jaws 3D and Jaws 4 in the theatres as well. banghead

On a funny side note during Jaws 3D, what I thought was seaweed during an underwater sequence turned out to be a girl's very straggely hairdo sticking up in my vision. I almost touched it like we tend to do in 3D films. That would have brought a scream.

  5. If George Lucas took the time and put the effort into the prequels that Peter Jackson has done with The Lord Of The Rings then all of the criticism toward TPM & AOTC wouldn't be necessary.

ROTJ is the weakest of the first three cause Lucas got rid of a few people(Gary Kurtz to name a few) who probably had the guts to argue with him.

In Star Wars: The Annotated Scripts there was mention that ROTJ was going to be a much darker film at first and did not have the second Death Star, in fact I think the finale was going to take place in the Imperial Palace. Lucas changed his mind and went the safe route.

Luke I think your wanting TTT to be nominated for a Razzie is just sour grapes over AOTC being nominated. It is way better than AOTC and I'm not as hard on the prequels as others on this board are.

Oops that was me, got logged off.

  6. My Oscar predictions are:

    The Two Towers

    Catch Me if you Can

    The Road to Perdition

    Frida

    Far From Heaven

I don't know if Chicago could qualify, but it might sneak in there.

Signs is basically JNH doing his best Bernard Herrmann & Jerry Goldsmith imitation. Kinda disappointed in this score. Not as good as the hype.

Star Trek Nemesis being mentioned for a nomination is a joke, I mean seriously listen to it, all of the music had that been there- heard that already feeling.

Williams could sneak in with Minority Report but I doubt it.
