  1. I know how you feel Roald. I got married last August and at first didn't have too much time to listen to any of my scores as well. Once you settle down though you'll find the time as I have to listen.
  2. I love the score but I don't have the musical background to write a review that would be worth reading.
  3. One of my favorites from Family Guy: Peter's family is watching Star Trek Kirk : "Allright men this is a dangerous mission and it's likely one of us will be killed. The landing party will consist of myself, Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy and Ensign Ricky." (Camera pans past each character to the red shirted Ensign Ricky) Ensign Ricky: "Aww Crap."
  4. Well Jerry Goldsmith's scores to The Edge and The Last Castle have a static like sound in the back ground, the second to last track on The Edge is the most glaring and Decca admitted there was a mistake on Castle and made sure future pressings would be correct. Total Recall Deluxe Edition has a short sound glich on track 13. Varese's re-recording of Herrmann's The Trouble With Harry has a skip at the end of track 3 I believe and they corrected future pressings. You can hear a clicking sound on track 1 of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, at the end of the Asteroid Field you can hear someone sneeze, although I think on the 2 disc set they cleaned it up a bit. People have said you can hear Goldsmith humming during a cue on the Rudy cd. On the score to Godzilla (1954) you can hear the orchestra flipping pages, chairs squeaking and other sounds as the begin to play one cue. The ticking noise heard is probably the meter that measures beats, I can't think of what is called at the moment, but some composers may use it for timing.
  5. At my wedding we used For Always as our first dance. My wife and I prefer the single version over the duet. Even though My Heart Will Go On has been played to death, It is one of Horner's more original works to come along in years. Rose's theme or any cue that has her theme in it are the only ones I bother to listen to these days. I especially love the piano version (the cue called The Portrait???) on the Back To Titanic cd.
  6. Congrats!!!! beerchug May you both be blessed with a long and happy marriage.

  9. I will admit I have small fortune in film score CD's , hell my Godzilla and Japanese Sci-Fi scores probably have more value than my collection as a whole. While I haven't added up I'm sure I could pay off all of my credit card debts I've rang up purchasing these scores I've also made sure my collection is well insured.
  10. It's false, read here: http://theforce.net/ or to save time: http://comingsoon.net/cgi-bin/archive/full...041025806,66816, I read this last night.
  11. Yeah I was somewhat disappointed that Nancy Sinatra's song isn't on the first album. Still great songs though. I think I'll pass on Goldmember though, most of the songs are todays music by the likes of Britney Spears.
  12. I like it!!! I like it!!!! Here's to swimmin with bowlegged women.... beerchug

  17. As far the songs go, Sinatra's song is ok. Isn't it used in the scene at the airport? You can't go wrong with Nat King Cole and The Christmas Song. I've always thought The Girl From Ipanema was a terrible cheesy song that irritates the hell out of me. The other two I could care less about as well. That's what the skip button on a CD player is for.
  18. I'll pass on re-recordings since most of them aren't up to par with the originals. I see no need in buying a re-recording or compilation album if the originals exist. I need to focus my attention to a couple of Williams FSM CD's I don't have yet, otherwise I have everything else.
  19. Why is he a jerk for stating his own opinion? I'm one of the biggest Williams fans around and yet I think TTT is one of the best scores of the year. That's just your own opinion as well. I don't think you've given the score a very good listen if you think it's nothing new from the first one. It sure doesn't sound like a repeat of the first one to me. Williams uses the same motifs and themes thru out the Star Wars Saga as well. Oops sorry that was me, got logged off.
  20. It is indeed a shame that so few can actually appreciate a very good film score. Shore is a very good composer yet sadly underrated and obviously not appreciated. But then given the current state of film music, aside from Williams, I'm not suprised at how un-appreciated Shore is.
  21. Star Wars is something completely different and should not be compared to LOTR. While Shore's work does not match Williams incredible effort for Star Wars, it is worthy of the praise given. While he may not write alot of rich themes like Williams, Shore is a gifted composer and deserved his Oscar. His LOTR scores are not boring and there are many themes throughout the score. You can hear the sorrow and even feel the sadness when listening to Gollum's Song. There is a subtleness to the scores that I quite enjoy for a change. I'm sure alot of people would prefer a bombastic, richly thematic score but I think Shore and Jackson have made the right choice musically. I think he has captured the world of Tolkien perfectly and in my opinion the only other composer who could have captured that feeling musically is Basil Poledouris, based on his work for Conan.
  22. Everyone wonders what's so special about The Lord Of The Rings yet a majority of the members on this board go crazy over Harry Potter and his books for the same reason. Which are nowhere near the quality of Tolkiens works in my opinion.
  23. That cue is on the soundtrack.
  24. Having read both the Screenplay and some of the book there are quite a few scenes that I wish they would have filmed or kept in the movie. Most of them involved the crew's interaction with each other. Plus I think Worf had a bigger part as well. Who knows maybe they'll be on the DVD or maybe they weren't even filmed. I wonder if the DVD will be a special edition or will Paramount just release a single disc and then when they get to the Next Gen films for the 2 disc special editions re-release it with extras????????
