  1. Actually the station appeared in some of the Next Generation TV episodes. In Generations they launched the Enterprise B from a similar space dock.

The end credits has track 12 on the CD tracked into as well.

As for the film, someone needs to learn how to FOCUS while filming and I've heard complaints on other websites that the film appears to be out of focus.

It isn't as bad as some say but it isn't as good as people say either. The space battles were great but the human aspect was handled poorly during several crucial scenes.

  2. I've always loved the themes to the show and used to watch them when I was little. I have Vol 1 and 2 of the scores that GNP released.

When they made the film I was hoping that Williams might score it although Broughton did a pretty good job.

  3. Just for the isolated score and Goldsmith's commentary, besides I got it pretty cheap. It really isn't that bad of a film. It starts off promising but then the final act kinda turns into the typical mad man on the loose and that's the films greatest weakness. They play it too safe, sticking to the typical formula for that kind of movie instead of really exploring the possibilities that were available to them.

But then again most movies take the safe approach.

  4. Now I remember why I quit ripping isolated scores. I've done a few; 1941 from the Laserdisc, Hollow Man from the DVD, and Alien from the DVD as well. 1941 and Alien turned out the best, Hollow took a little more effort cause Goldsmith's commentary runs into a few cues. I've never and probably won't ever try to extract cues from the rear channels.

  5. I don't think anyone tried to slam Roald too bad Chris. He came out pretty strong in his opening statement and I think others may have felt the same way and wanted to defend williams and Spielberg.

In the end though it's all about opinions. My opinions are no more valid than Roald's, Joe's,Ricard's, Hlao's, A.I.'s. RogueLeader's etc. etc.

It's all about personal taste, just because one person doesn't like or several people find it medicore doesn't mean it's a terrible effort. It's just their opinion and that shouldn't stop those of us who like it from enjoying it.

  6. I'm not a big Potter fan myself, other than Williams music of course. but I will say COS was a big improvement over the first film. The visuals were much better, thanks to ILM. I felt the pacing of the film was greatly improved and it seems the actors are settling in to their roles as the series progresses. The final confrontation was much more interesting this time around, compared to the flat and lifeless one in the first film.

I will agree that the ending was a little sappy but it does show how much Hagrid is beloved by Harry and co.

Now I haven't read the books but most people who have read them, including my daughter, feel that the movies are doing their best to include as much of the material possible.

  7. Well after searching almost everywhere (Best Buy, Circuit City etc etc.) I finally found 1 copy at Hastings and the clerk told me they only ordered in 1 copy. So I guess I'm the lucky one who got it.

As far as the score goes I would rate it below TMP and V, and maybe below First Contact but above Insurrection but that's based on the "Expanded" versions of each score.

While some of the action cues have a fresher sound to them compared to recent Goldsmith scores, it doesn't live up to the hype that Varese claimed. Some of the darker cues almost remind me of Goldsmith's The Mummy and at time the electronics are annoying. It's worth getting but the best Trek score since TMP is maybe stretching it a bit and worthy of debate.

  8. While were on the subject of AOTC DVD's audio tracks, am I losing my mind or is there wordless chorus backing the Imperial March and the Love theme in the final sequences? I didn't notice it in the theater and it certainly isn't audible on my CD, but I did notice it when playing the movie on my new home theater system and my sister's as well.

I really haven't had a chance to sit down and watch the film, I just skipped thru it just to make sure the disc played ok. One of the sequenes I did watch was the ending and I didn't hear anything abnormal. I'll have to give it a closer listen. That would sound pretty cool with a wordless choir.

  10. Maybe Indy could go on a search for the Yeti or go to Scotland and look the Loch Ness Monster............ LOL

I remember one of the early rumors was the search for Noah's Ark. I kinda like the Atlantis idea as well. The problem with villians is the world has gotten too PC that you really can't do anything with out offending someone.

I kinda like the idea of maybe another archeologist like Belloq who has no loyalties to any nation, perhaps the film should pit Indy against someone like that.

oops that was me, got logged off again.
