At this point we’re going to see the entire film in 20 second increments. Those shall be mine.

What if John Williams had scored a true animated film, like Goldsmith and Horner did? What if Horner had scored a Pixar film? What if Bruce Broughton scored a Star Trek film? As wonderful as his score to Lonesome Dove was, I can imagine his Dances score would have equally as good.

THE ORVILLE - Music Discussion (Kevin Kaska joins season 3)
Ollie replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
Mine’s scheduled to arrive Tuesday, looking forward to delving into it. -
I had the misfortune of seeing all the sequels in the theatre....... 🙁 I’ve always felt Fallen Kingdom, film wise, was a more polished version of The Lost World.

Which composers have you had a chance to meet/see in real life?
Ollie replied to crocodile's topic in General Discussion
I forgot to mention Dirk Brosse. Saw him when Star Wars A Musical Journey came thru Texas, didn’t get to meet him. Tim Simonec was with Giacchino and was also available after the concert but I was a bit under the weather that night and there was someone who was chatting with him a bit longer than normal. I was ready to get back to my hotel room and wasn’t in the mood to stand around too much longer. -

He joked about about Carter’s box office during the concert. Tim Simonec conducted the first half of the concert and Giacchino conducted the rest after intermission. -

Just John Williams and Michael Giacchino. Shook John Williams hand and thanked him for coming to Texas and probably some other silly fanboy stuff. He is as generous and humble as everyone says. Chatted with Michael Giacchino after a concert in Dallas. Talked about his Star Trek (2009) score, at the time he told me JJ Abrams had already told him he was scoring Into Darkness and it would be official when he returned to LA. -
Well since LLL started their Goldsmith @ 20th, I imagine the Fox titles will start trickling back out. For me I’d like a definitive version of MacArthur. Hollow Man, 13th Warrior and Timeline would be my next choices. I don’t know how much is missing from The Mephisto Waltz but The Others would be another title to add.

Rejected film score you prefer over the replacement composed score.

Troy Timeline 2001, the classical music just feels out of place and comical. The Golden Child Platoon 2 Days in the Valley Most of the music from Elmer Bernstein’s rejected score collection Varese released. -

I still haven’t noticed anything different about the cue. and I’m ok with it. -
Most frustrating release: UE Phantom Menace vs. 2012 LaLa Land Hook
Ollie replied to WampaRat's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
TPM UE was a release that never should have happened the way it was presented. Especially after releasing the original trilogy in near complete form in the late 90’s. -
Label Threads The Official Varese Sarabande Thread
Ollie replied to Charlie Brigden's topic in General Discussion
I knew Varese changed their shipping distribution in the USA, didn’t realize its around 70 miles from my house. I ought to get my orders really quick now. -

Your 2021 film score related expectations, hopes, dreams, and ponderances
Ollie replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
I was looking forward to Godzilla vs Kong...... But Spiderman 3 is probably the only one left, unless something comes out and completely surprises me. -
Cool release for those who collect LPs. Love the artwork. For those wondering, they can still be had on CD, with much more content. https://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/4875/50th-ANNIVERSARY-GODZILLA-SOUNDTRACK-PERFECT-COLLECTION-BOX-1/ Links to the other 5 boxes can be found there as well.

Well for one, it rids one of a lot of useless CDs that take up space. I’ve got 2-3 boxes full of CDs that will never get played again. And while not every score gets this treatment, quite a few releases are including the original album presentation.

Minus Inspector Clouseau.

Black Panther is fantastic, the rest....meh.

The only gripe I have for Herrmann is that he tended to re-use some material. Not as bad as Horner did though. And if Vertigo is overrated then Obsession is a snooze fest. Never understood the praise for that one.

Michael Giacchino picked his top 5 film scores of all time

I won’t argue with the first 2 scores. -
Your most regretted missed soundtrack purchase
Ollie replied to Jurassic Shark's topic in General Discussion
There’s a few things I kinda regret passing on, Speed, Lost in Space box set, Wild Wild West box set and Land of the Giants set. But I have the LLL 40th Anniversary LIS CD and GNP LOTG CD.
