I can’t believe they went with playmates for the figures. They look like bootleg figures. And some are crappy molds.

Michael Giacchino's TRAVELOGUE: VOLUME 1 (2020)
Ollie replied to shad79's topic in General Discussion
Pre-ordered the CD. Yeah I could do without the narration as well but that’s Giacchino’s intended preference for the whole project. -
Keeping or recreating the Original Album (or not)
Ollie replied to Tom Guernsey's topic in General Discussion
i was a bit tongue in cheek with my response, but I grew up where short soundtracks were the norm. If that’s all that was available, then I bought it. I was a bit tongue in cheek with my response. I grew up with the 30 min soundtrack so having short albums was the norm. And even though I enjoyed them, I’d get a bit frustrated over missing music. Imagine coming home with the 2 LP of Superman and realizing the helicopter sequence was missing. Not to continue to beat this dead horse, but I never really cared about Album Presentation or a composer’s artistic choice. The album is going to flow, regardless of whether it’s the complete score or an arrangement by the composer. I’m interested in everything the composer wrote for the film. The music in a complete presentation flows just fine for me. -

And I laugh and laugh and laugh as it slowly burns... -

no, I have a ceremony where I burn it for it’s poor representation. -
Did your War of the Worlds (Intrada) arrive defective?
Ollie replied to Josh500's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Mines fine. every once and a while I’ll get a cd where a track or 2 may not rip correctly. I just give my drive a 5 minute rest and retry and it works just fine. -

I pitch the original album, it’s worthless once the complete score is released. Now there are exceptions but the labels usually include the original album with the expanded release if it’s a truly unique recording. And personally I don’t waste my time recreating anything. I admire those who take the time to edit and recreate but I’m satisfied with what the labels decide for the most part. -
Rest In Peace good sir.

I use the same rule I would for anything in my life. As you get closer to someone you start to open up about things. But if I feel there’s nothing there as far as continuing a relationship, then I’m not going to talk about my personal life too much. Of course I haven’t dated in 20 years, I’m not allowed to. Pity, you should have kept her. My significant other was quite impressed with him when she met him.

WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005) 2CD edition from Intrada Records 2020
Ollie replied to crocodile's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
probably the closest we’ll get to Williams scoring a Kaiju film. -
Never heard of Winegard until he got the directing gig. Looks like a few films got their dates pushed back besides this one. WW84 got pushed back again.

You were close........

I’d ask if there was a chance of releasing a comprehensive disc of Williams works for NBC, news, Olympics, football.

Oh well, my wallet thanks them for saving me money and not having to buy BW.

Who would be your (Non-Williams) choice for scoring Indiana Jones 5
Ollie replied to Fabulin's topic in General Discussion
Giacchino, Christophe Becke or Joe Kraemer. Bruce Broughton as a dark horse candidate. -
The Swarm by Jerry Goldsmith finally coming from La-La Land!

Too bad they didn't use the Mad Mad Mad World styled artwork for the cover. That cover artwork says more about the film than the original artwork. Score's fantastic though. -
Some random alarm Apple haas on the iPhone. I was using Prelude / Outer-space from Herrmann’s The Day The Earth Stood Still, but the opening bars scared my wife wide awake. So she made me change it.

2020 Oscars - Best Original Score predictions
Ollie replied to TownerFan's topic in General Discussion
It’s funny though, non of the prequel scores were nominated. Granted Williams did have other scores nominated instead. -

TROS is a very weak score. There’s nothing that really stands out and grabs you. I blame some of that on the film but Silvestri should have been rewarded with a nomination instead.
