Anyone else feel like the discussion of this film just goes around in circles?
I was originally going to post that, we can sit here and debate the merits of all the films as to how bad or how good they are it’s not gonna change anybody’s mind.

Why is it okay for the classic trilogy (which, likewise, was not mapped out) and not okay here?
The issue here isn’t a lack of foresight: it’s just that The Rise of Skywalker is a bad movie.
It was preceded by a bad film. And while I do not think Lucas had the entire trilogy fully planned, I believe he had it somewhat structured on how he wanted it to go.

I don’t even know if adults care, my wife got rid of the HP book set I bought her years ago.
I’m just invested in Williams music.

Disney and Lucasfilm should be blamed for not having this trilogy mapped out with a clear objective.

Saw it, found it much better than TLJ but the third act drags the film down.
And I hate the redemption arc, much like I did in ROTJ.
TFA remains the best film of the new trilogy.

Everything was planned from the start.
The only problem is that TLJ was too weak. It failed at showing the coming love story of Ben and Rey and didn't prepared us (except musically, thanks to John Williams) that Snoke was related to Palpatine.
TLJ needs a director's cut with these two things added:
- A little more passion between Ben and Rey (altough we see there's a real tension between them)
- A hint that Snoke was just a puppet of someone else more powerfull than him, no need to say anything else.
- Ah and remove the iron scene.... and the scene where Chewy tries to eat a Prog, thanks!
No Chewie should have went ahead and taken bite out it.
Or maybe Luke actually interacts with his long time friend and tells him they taste bad or something.
What would have been even funnier if the porg had ignited the lightsaber and took out the other one when Luke tossed it.

Pass, I’m content with just have TFA and Rogue One on Blu-ray.
It was George’s right to do what he wanted with his films and as a consumer it’s my right to not watch them.

27 discs for 9 films?

I wanna know if the rumors of Luke appearing as Han Solo to convince Kylo Ren to be good are true.
-
I’m guessing Rose is relegated to a few appearances and hopefully not involved in the plot too much.

I don't have any problems so far with anything from the leaks concerning the plot - but that opening crawl text is lame as fuck. The dead speak - a euphemism for the entire trilogy?
no more lame than the ROTS opening crawl.

I love what one of the reviews said, it’s an apology for TLJ.

I paid for mine with the Kickstarter campaign last year.

I think Kylo’s was meant to be heavy, kind of a throwback to medieval swords.
But the sabres in the newer films sound and look much more powerful.

Got mine for Stargate and the Disaster box.

I still enjoy TFA.

20 years from now, if I’m still alive, I’ll look at my DVD collection and debate on which Star Wars film I’m going watch out of the three I own, Rogue One, Solo or TFA.
