Ollie got a reaction from Not Mr. Big in The Overregarded and Overrated
I have a great deal of respect for Morricone and defended him here when he won his honorary Oscar and the JW fanboys went into bitch mode over it.
And thanks to the all the fanboys at the time who took my star rating down to 1 for that.
However I find him overrated, his music tends to sound cheesy and silly at times. He's written some nice music but I find most of it does not hold my attention away from the film. And please spare me the narrow minded BS.
I say that because almost everyone here is narrow minded even though they won't admit it. We develop our tastes over time. I'm always willing to expand my listening habits but after awhile you do get a grasp on what a composer does.
Yeah I admit I roll my eyes at threads like these because there are quite a few very good scores frowned upon here. And yeah I also look down on the "John Williams is god and above everyone else" mentality that exists here.

This would be a perfect spot for a Prokofiev comment but I'll let it go.
Maybe the director, studios, producers didn't want to hear a rehash of previous works.Or maybe the film is awful and they are trying to fix it.
The fact they didn't replace him with a Zimmer clone is a positive sign.

How loud is your shower? What are you doing in there?

Ollie got a reaction from Ren in Man Of Steel (2013 Superman reboot directed by Zack Snyder)
Finally saw it, don't really know what to think.
It's loud, the music is awful and was more obtrusive then TDK scores.
It felt at times I was wayching a Sci-Fi Channel made film with a huge budget and then I had Transformer flashbacks during the final battle scenes.
I almost expected after Supes won for the smoke to clear and everyone standing there, staring at him with pissed off looks on their faces, pointing for him to leave earth.
The destruction was almost comical.

Nope I'm just not some uptight snob who looks down on everyone because of their choices for entertainment.

I received Clear And Present Danger yesterday, the sound is improved as well. I noticed instruments in The Ambush I never heard before. Unless its a different take.

Well Stefan and Meghan got his autograph before the show! Me, Francis, and others were unsuccessful.
Shows about to start!

Rope is an underrated Hitchcock film not too many people talk about. I'd recommend that one.

I'm glad his words show he's proud of his musical accomplishment, he deserves to be, It's a piece worthy of being proud.

Ollie got a reaction from Delorean90 in Star Trek Into Darkness SPOILERS ALLOWED Discussion Thread
One thing this film does is give Kirk the proper heroic death he deserved instead of the lame way he went out in Generations.

I found that cue pretty exciting.
Maybe Gia, if not Beltrami, could have made something interesting for Pacific Rim. Pity we got Djawadi instead.

Ollie got a reaction from Once in IMDB says John Williams to score Pixar's 2015 movie "Inside Out" (Update: Not anymore)
In a shocking twist, John Williams finds out the Michael Giacchino will be scoring Star Wars VII so Williams steals his Pixar scoring gig in retaliation.

I'm a track man, always have been. I play cues which I have for some reason recently recalled from memory, or because I'm in a particular mood. Sometimes I'll play the same track a number of times in succession, entirely or just parts of it, over and over again, until I've had my fill, both emotionally and analytically. Sometimes a single five minute cue can take me thirty minutes to get through.
On that basis I listen to about three tracks a week.
Driving to and from work is definitely good for extra listening time. The Boston Pops Spiel/Will Collab CE3K concert arrangement is currently the track of the week in that regard.

Horner's Spiderman score is better than I thought it would be but it's obvious he was influenced by or the film was temp tracked with Elfman's superior scores.

Rest in peace.
Didn't always agree with him but had a great deal of respect for him as well as what he overcame from this horrible disease.

his love of film was genuine, his reviews less of a criticism and more an expression of his personal feelings about a film.
I imagine that Gene was waiting for him and they are now laughing about how bad the prequels turned out. He is whole where he is now.
