I’ve given up hope on ever seeing a proper complete set of IJ or the Prequels, never mind the sequels. At the pace they are going I’ll be too old to collect and long dead by the time the sequels are done.

I got to see Giacchino's Marvel short film "Werewolf by Night" performed at the Kennedy Center with the NSO last night.  It was a really fun concert, a Halloween/Spooky movie themed one.  He was there, along with Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige, and they introduced many of the pieces.  Giacchino was very funny and personable, and my son enjoyed it all.
The first half of the concert was various scary/fun movie pieces.
    1) Hans Salter's "The Incredible Shrinking Man"- the Jazzy/pop version of the music.
    2) Tchaikovsky's music used in the “Phantom of the Opera” Unmasking Scene (live to picture)
    3) Franz Waxman's Creation of the Female Monster from Bride of Frankenstein (short version of it)
    4) Bernard Herrmann's 3 part suite from Psycho.  Audience laughed at the shower music (that always annoys me)
    5) Giacchino's suite from Batman (which I like the middle section of, but the repeating beginning and end are just loud and dull. Giacchino, has a tendancy to write repeating phrases that just get louder and louder, without much variation.
    6) Giacchino's suite from Super 8 (live to some of his old films he made as a kid.  Fun, but distracting from the music, which is one of my favorite's of his.
    7) After the intermission, they did his score to Werewolf by Night.  It was in color, but the film is so dark, much of it was hard to make out.  They played the marvel special presentation theme, and the horror version of the Marvel them, which I love.  The guitar version on the soundtrack of the main theme was sadly not played.  The audience cheered and clapped at the huge brass outbursts/ jump scares.
    8) for an encore, they played the theme from Coco.  Fun, but I would have preferred the Incredibles or Ratatouille instead:)

Everything was performed very well, the place was packed with people of all ages (some in costume).
I've been a Giacchino fan since I first got his Medal of Honor soundtrack (my very first purchase on Amazon years ago).

side note:  The gentleman next to me recorded the entire concert from his bookbag.  So it's out there somewhere!

Listening, talking, attending concerts and buying CDs are harmless as long as they don’t cause a disruption in your life.

if all you do is talk about someone no matter the situation or spend money on the above that is needed elsewhere for life’s necessities, then it becomes an obsessive problem.

I’d say trying to meet someone (celebrity) outside of events is not a good thing either. If I live near John Williams, I’m not driving or walking by his house everyday unless it’s part of a normal routine that I have to do in order to get to work or taking a walk.

Now if I saw him outside of his house while I was walking, I would probably say high, good morning etc etc. I’d be reluctant to stop and chat though. I’ve encountered a few celebrities in public before and just went about my business without bothering them.

I don’t think buying the new 20 disc box set is obsessive if you can afford it. Like I said in the original thread, if it came out 20 years ago, I’d be all over it. But now, no, I don’t really need it. I’ve got well over 90% of what’s represented on that set.

Another one I saw in the actual cinema this summer.  I never got around to saying much here about it, but I also don't know if I have any thoughts that haven't already been expressed a bunch around here.  I really didn't like how they turned our hero Indy into a sad old man with a dead son who had to win back Marion yet again, I didn't like how the villains murdered random innocents who had nothing to do with the things over and over again, I didn't like adding a sci-fi concept like time travel into the world (juts as bad as adding aliens in last time), I thought the de-aging in the prologue was terrible, I just generally didn't really like anything about this movie at all.  Except the score, which I quite enjoy!

If this had come out 20 years ago, I’d be all over it. But kudos to those involved with this release. It will be a nice haul for the JW fan just beginning their journey.

Kinda like the Varese Goldsmith @ Fox release.

I can understand that. I heard Meco’s disco version of Star Wars before I got Williams score. It was a shock hearing the difference.

The same with Midway. Obviously I had the Varese recording before the Original and it took awhile to get over the tempo differences. Outside of the theme I wasn’t that familiar with score, having only seen the film when I was much younger.

I'd look at it as something to live for, so @Thor can tell us again that the OSTs are sufficient in his unique, charming way.
