  1. I recently heard about it when I listened to the Hans Zimmer interview on the reissue release of the album.
  2. Now available to order. Intrada announces an expanded edition of one of Hans Zimmer's most beloved film scores, the 1991 Universal Pictures epic Backdraft. Zimmer was relatively new on the scene, having most notably scored the Rain Man, Bird on a Wire and Days of Thunder prior to Backdraft. When some of the Black Rain score was placed into test footage of Backdraft, director Ron Howard felt compelled to pick up the phone and bring in Zimmer. Film scoring was evolving as movies transitioned from the '80s to '90s, and Zimmer's work had a defining hand in crafting that direction. Interestingly, Zimmer was also working with a large orchestra for the first time, with Shirley Walker as his lead orchestrator. The result is a large-scale, dramatic score where even the fire is treated as its own, emotional character. At the time of the film's a release, an album on the Milan label was released featuring 30 minutes of score and two vocals by Bruce Hornsby (not included on this new release). That album was mixed by the iconic George Martin, who interestingly chose to mix down or remove much of the electronic soundscape of the score. For this new 2-CD release, the first disc includes the complete film score as heard in the film, with all electronics intact. The second disc features the original Milan album and George Martin's special album mix. The story revolves around two estranged firefighter brothers (Kurt Russell and William Baldwin), who confront their troubled past while investigating a series of deadly fires in Chicago. As they delve deeper into the arson cases, they uncover a sinister conspiracy that tests their loyalty and puts their lives in jeopardy. This release is in memory of Donald Sutherland. 3. The difference is that RotJ has over 2 hours of music and The Sugarland Express only about 40 minutes and most cues are short.
  4. Thrilled that Backdraft is getting an expanded edition. It's one of my all time favorite scores and there's over 30 minutes of unreleased music.
  5. What did you expect? It's just a title that is back in stock, not a reissue or remaster.
  6. They also aren't selling Avatar: The Way of Water or the Legacy Collection releases of Aladdin and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Aren't you able to order from Disney Music Emporium?
  7. No, the booklet doesn't say anything about the cue. I should have said it differently. I can't hear a difference between both cues, so I don't know why it is included.
  8. I got my copy today. It's nice to finally have all the music. "Astride the Ant" appears to be an alternate, although I'm unable to hear the difference.
  9. Roger Corman, pioneering independent Producer and King of B Movies, dies at 98
  10. I got my copy today together with Avatar: The Way of Water. Unfortunately both jewel cases are damaged, but I'm happy to have both albums now on CD.
  11. I've watched the film recently (it's already out on DVD and Blu-ray over here), but the only positive thing about it is Christopher Young's score. The story has potential, but it's poorly executed and the acting is also poor (even by the late Julian Sands).
