Yesss ! I think the fact that it's a counter melody kind of threw you guys off a bit ^^
-
Neither ! Wow I didn't think this one would be that hard to guess
-
Nope, it's another cue ^^ As for 7, it is definitely not Stepmom nor The Lost World

French Horn Tribute to John Williams [ 2016 REMASTERED ]

Here's a different way of listening to the Bike Chase ! French Horns and Trumpets only -
Just saying it's impressive to look at And to think that JW wrote all of these notes one by one, and that later they were all written again by orchestrators/score preparators...seems like such a daunting task ! I remember JoAnn Kane saying they'd copied something like a million notes for a certain JW project

Yeah it's quite insane and fascinating how intricate these scores can be...especially that kind of action cues ! So many things going on, so many ideas, so many layers, so many notes

Favorite short musical moments in Williams scores?
Marc replied to Balahkay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
2:38 - 2:46 Those chords he used with those little flute motifs on top, as Kevin slowly turns towards Harry and Marvin ! Brilliant scoring -
Always loved the horn solo in Duncan's Toy Store, and of course the whole "To the plaza, presto" cue ! So here it is, all transcribed by ear ( as far as I know there isn't a lot of Home Alone 2 sheet music out there ^^ )

I'd say they do yeah ! Any time a big "epic" sound is needed you can be sure there'll be a 4 or 6-horn section playing in unison, and when it's in the high range that's when it gets risky ^^ Especially if the horn players have been playing for quite some time during a session or concert and suddenly they have to play a high part...in that case you can never be 100% sure the right note is gonna come out
-
Haha, well you are absolutely RIGHT ! Especially when the whole horn section is playing in unison and one of them misses a note...there are so many cues in which this happened and it was nonetheless kept in the final mix And I've heard it countless times live, well I even heard it a few times during the LSO show last year at the Royal Albert Hall ! Yeah...the french horn is no easy instrument to play

Here's my horn cover of 15m3 "The Lost Boys", which as you know was partly replaced by "You Are the Pan" in the movie. It really gives the scene a totally different vibe ! -
Great cue by Harry Gregson-Williams ! Horn solos rarely go that high ^^

All of these solos were performed by legendary horn player James Thatcher, who's actually part of the facebook group I originally posted these in ! And here's the comment he made about the JFK one The original part :
