Oh, it's certainly there. Not really sure why not everyone can hear it, because it isn't really that high a tone, either.

Incorrect. Iron Man is crappiest still.

If Iron Man or The Dark Knight wins, well,
the entire academy can just flush itself down the toilet... -
Ah, gotcha. I don't even remember that, to be honest. But there was so much insanity leading up to the release that's not surprising.
There was indeed.
Good times...

Oh, it's exceptionally subtle. But let me clear it up for you.
When it was first announced that they would use the original artwork for the covers, most thought it was cool. But I didn't, and maybe (?) a few others, because I thought the DCC cover was much better. So there was a little argument at the time, and you bringing up the artwork again awoke it inside of me.
Clear?

So I've been told...
-
Some seem to think Indy has a moustage on the coverart for the OST and Concorde version.
I think there might have only been one.......
Yours truly.
-
I liked the DCC album cover a lot more......I mean a LOT more.
-
They just used the original covers, like they did for LTC and KOCS.
And a good choice it was. I never cared much for the poster used for the DCC release.
Highlighted for controversy...

Let's hope they vote for quality and emotion, and vote for the Indy 4 score in both categories. Not that these awards are any indicator of quality, but at least they recognised Johnny's fine compositions better than his so-called fanbase did.
Yeah I've been trying really hard to recognize the greatness of these compositions, but my mind is too clouded with virulent hatred of Williams. Can you help me figure out how to develop the One, True Opinion? I mean, I just wish I could stop being wrong!
Yes, we all wish you could stop being wrong...

-
The rest of the packaging is nice though, even if the box is juuuuuuuuust barely big enough. They chose great covers for Raiders and ToD.
Highlighted for controversy...

Don't worry, you ain't missing anything by not reading them.
Indeed.
I should know; I don't have them.

-
I didn't know you were a sheet music guy.

I think we had a thread on this at one point. IMSLP just recently came back, so it might have been the one you were thinking folded a while back.
Anyways, it is a really great site.

i grew up listenin n playin john williams music but lately ive really gotten into hans zimmer.. i jus got the new soundtrack to pirates of the caribbean #2 while workin at umg and its pretty good. POTC #2 soundtrack has a cool mix of techno-type beats, orchestral melodies and vocal underchords. if you havent checked it out, visit www.disneyrecords.com/pirates2 and let me know what you think!
ok but the real question is whether moviemusic-makers like williams and zimmer are as good as real composers like Tom Petty.
Or Bryan Adams...
-
So what do you want me to say? That there's no high frequency drone in the track?
That'd be nice, yes.
-
I thought this was interesting reading through this thread:
There are 3 categories of composers:1)JW
2)Zimmer and MV hacks
3)All the others who kinda sound like JW but not as good
K.M.
Have you changed your mind since then, KM?

Somewhere in Time by John Barry.
Too cool for school.
Seriously, this score is just...incredible. Just found it at the Goodwill for $1.79. That has got to be the most bang for my buck I have ever experienced. I mean, I was close to tears by the end of it, with those beautiful piano arpeggios and such backing the main theme. Seriously moving. And that main theme has got to be the most incredible love theme ever written, or right around there. Somehow it is amazing in every variation. The main theme faster way, but also when it is played slower. I am truly stunned.....
Was the movie any good?

is that the Napoleon thing?

-
Hey, that's a revolutionary cue. Drop Zone and Backdraft essentially created trailer music.
I think you mean bad trailer music...
-
Cool thing about user 'airmanjerm' I found out a little while back. Go to his profile and read his 'about me' section.
-
But it's still unfair....
At what point does this become spam?
-
But it's still unfair...

It has nice presentation, I'll give it that.
Life isn't fair....
I guess so, but what does that have to do with TDK set? The fact that it's overpriced?
No, I was thinking about the prequels and other Williams scores......How long did it take for Indy? TDK isn't even out on DVD yet, is it?
I mean, this is just incredibly unfair.....

Since this set was my introduction to this music, the pitch problems don't bother me, because, to my ears, it all sounds very musical and I haven't noticed anything. Though if I were used to the music already, it might be different...
