  1. TPM was Williams and the whole production team trying to hark back to the old days. AotC was them moving in a new direction and not doing a great job of it. RotS was them again moving in a new direction but this time doing a wonderful job.
  2. Irina's Theme does not really fit the character I feel, too tragic, not menacing enough. Of course Leia's Theme does not really fit Leia's personality either, so.... Oh, you watch movies? I just listen to the music...
  3. Oh come on, let's don't be silly! Of course Williams themes, especially for Irina and the skull, are better than any other themes being written recently that I know of.
  4. So Henry, reading your posts, I haven't actually been able to figure out which 'side' you are actually on on this issue. Do you like the new 'modern' semi-minimalistic John Williams, but just think that KotCS isn't a good representation of it?
  5. Exactly. This is why I still love Williams newer, more modern and ostinato-based music. I think it is a very valid genre, and Williams does it well. And to Joey, I didn't vote yes or no in this thread, because I don't think there is a good answer to the question.
  6. I think Indy4 (the movie) actually suffered because it tried so hard to hark back to the original trilogy, when Williams has obviously moved away from that style. It is the same reason that I enjoy RotS better than TPM. I like it better when Williams is not trying to please fans, but to write great music, even if it is in a style many of his fans seem to think less of.
  7. Exactly. Usually, with really great artists, the middle period works are the most popular at the time, and the late period works are the most creative and groundbreaking, and most acclaimed later, usually after the artist's death.
  8. Have you ever heard a little (ha!) sonata called "Hammerklavier" by one Ludwig van Beethoven?
  9. I think it is safe to say you would not have liked it as much.
  10. It's not silly, it's the truth. It's a very good way of getting your point across. "Darn you! Darn you all to heck!" See how stupid and childish that sounds? And those aren't even vulgar. Vulgarity is just an aspect of our language, there is no such thing as "bad language." In the end, they're all just synonyms. Vulgar words have meanings that I would not want to put into any sentence I was saying. The reason that that sentence sounds stupid and childish is because it IS stupid and childish, as is the more vulgar version.
  11. If there was an option above the top one, I think I would vote for that. More strict. Vulgarity really annoys me, so I voted option # 1 I really don't see why people don't like the filter; it doesn't ever seem to stop them from saying what they want to say. Oh, and the 'we're all adults here' thing is just plain silly. Anyone can access this site, no matter what their age. Vulgarity is not necessary to get a point across, believe me. People only feel that way because they are used to using it. There are plenty of great words out there that can be used instead. So anyways, there's my $0.02
  12. OK, here is my version of the cue "Entrance of the Boy King". JW's music is sooooo much more complex than mine. Much harder to make a realistic mock-up of. My tempo is different than the one already posted. Let me know what you think! "Entrance of the Boy King" http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UU1ZZ610
  13. I think maybe I can get $5 off of it at F.Y.E. I might try that.
  14. Airmanjerm, I am unable to open your Finale files because I have Finale 2008, not Finale Allegro. Do you suppose there is any way you could post screenshots of "The Entrance of the Boy King" pages, or something like that? There are many many places where I would like a second opinion on what exactly is written Thanks!
  15. Oh, man. You will be very missed. But I wish you all the best.
