Indiana Jones: The Soundtracks Collection (official Thread)

Wait, are you talking about the track called "The Clash of Lightsabers"? You mean that wasn't around before the Anthology? Wow. I feel sorry for movie score fans of that time. It must have been hard. -

CD players are strange and foreign to me... I believe it says "Album Produced by John Williams". On a side note, in the list of musicians Raiders lists Henry Greenwood as librarian. Interesting. Neither of the other two credit librarians... -
My Quantum of Solace review is up, as is Casino Royale. Let me know what you think, but I am just beginning in Bond music, so go easy on me

Oh, I see. So the track sounds better without the insert? -

I am confused about the missing ten seconds of "The Rolling Ball". I have the ten second track, but, comparing the complete cue list with my concord track times, they both show 1:34. Where does the extra 10 seconds go, and why does the complete cue list show the same time as the concord track if the concord track is missing music? -
And finally Interviews And More Music From Indiana Jones. I don't know if I have heard these interviews before or not, but either way, nice one-time listen. The extra music is, of course, great, if a little out of context. But don't worry, playlists are made and ready to go featuring them in their proper positions. Overall impressions: I LOVE THIS SET. Yes, there are problems, but I just can't help myself. I love it.

It is there through most of "Death of Kazim" as well. I can't give you exact track times on "Indy's Very First Adventure", but it pops up frequently if I remember correctly. -
Just listened to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, because I am going through the whole boxset in order before doing anything else with it. I must say, though, that this score really doesn't hold up well when compared to the others. I usually defend it, and I still do, but it is certainly not on the same level as the OT.

So, I was able to hear the click track in parts of "Indy's Very Fist Adventure", and I thought I may have caught it once in the finale. But in Indy' First Adventure, it comes in and out so constantly that it is impossible for it to be a metronome. Is this some different sort of click track used for film scoring, or what? -
Just listened to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I was expecting this to be the worst of the original three, but I don't know... Pretty incredible music. I'll have to think about it for a while.

Oh, wait. Come to think of it, I do remember hearing some odd fading in and out of the music. Not completely, just moving out, then back in, and some other like-problems. I thought it must be my headphone connection, so each time it happened, I just played with the connection, and it stopped Still, I only noticed it a couple times. -

Reading this thread, I'm getting the feeling that both Raiders and Temple are unlistenable, because of pitch and sound quality! I hope that's not true. Not unlistenable by any stretch of the imagination. To tell you the truth, on the first listen through I didn't notice anything wrong. Of course, it was just about my first listen to the scores ever, so I was sort of overcome with the music. -

Jason, do you think you could add some pitch correction instructions to the Indy music website you and Ricard have? The idea of reading through so many pages to find the info is daunting, and it would be very handy to have at hand on the site (which has been invaluble, by the way). -
I had F.Y.E. order it for me, and went back today (well, yesterday) and it was in. I was very happy, and that is the happy end to my very happy story. Well, I just finished Temple of Doom, and am somwhat.......overwhelmed. I thank that is about all I can handle for one night.
-
I just listened to Raiders of the Lost Ark in good quality for the first time in my life, and my reaaction is the exact opposite of Koray's. What a great score! I am really looking forward to getting to know this score.

Odd, I always thought the score outdid the songs.

Got it today, and it looks great. Waiting until tonight to start. I'll probably do one CD per night, so that it is without interuption. Should be fun. Hopefully I can wait until then... -
That was why I put the after saying that. It was a joke. And I think TDK was well done.
-
OK, I don't need to argue it. I just happened to post something, then be gone for a week and not get a chance to defend my post. That is why I was bringing it back up. If you don't want me here, I can leave... In a moment. First, Heath Ledger's performance was good, but overrated. Second, I think that an impressive array of un-seen individuals made Wall-E better, and no one aspect stole the glory. The whole thing was solid, and moving. OK, I'm done. Probably...
-
TDK was cliche because it was dark in such a forced way, trying to be so serious. Sure, it was well done. I am not arguing that. But Wall-E meant much more to me because it had heart and character, instead of the endless dark black/blue-ish scenes with very serious people trying oh so hard to get an oscar. I can only watch that for so many hours at a time, and TDK was way too many of them in one movie. Very well done, but still somewhat forced and way too long, whereas Wall-E never seemed forced.
-
OK, back to the real reason for this thread: the TDK vs. Wall-E debate For me, TDK was very cliche. It was the 'dark' middle part of a (probably) trilogy that took itself way too seriously and tried to make of for it's lack of originality with length. Or something like that. Whatever the reasons, I thought it was dark in a very cliched way, and way way way way too long. Wall-E, seemed much less forced. I admit that the first part was best, but I did like the second part as well, and I liked the message: WORK. I think it is a message that really needs to go out in this day and age of movies and computer games and enough entertainment to waste a lifetime on. I know this is the wrong message board for that last sentence, but oh well. I also thought the love story was handled very well in Wall-E, as opposed to TDK where I absolutely didn't care when what's-her-name got killed off. Anyway, those are my thoughts.
