I don’t really find all the comparisons of the piece resembling this or that based on a few notes to be very valuable criticism, except to point out that it has completely different emotional content than all those works - I think that is Williams’ brilliance. A couple notes shared with Cinque’s theme, yet this is filled with its own noble, religious awe, which I wouldn’t say Cinque’s theme does. Williams is able to use similar building blocks to create something entirely different.

This is what Spielberg previously said during the 'On Film' interview:
So in that interview Spielberg said "he wanted" the music to be that way, but it was actually Williams who decided that was how the score was going to be, and then he agreed.

It warmed my heart to see him conducting. I know we had heard that he did, but actually seeing it is amazing. Hope there's a longer featurette released at some point with more footage.
