Tallguy got a reaction from Stark in The Alan Silvestri Thread
I think if he had only written Back to the Future he would have been Craig Safan.
And calling any part of the Abyss "Close Encounters" just makes me realize how unattainable Close Encounters is. I too adore The Abyss (obviously). But it's no Close Encounters. Not much is.

I know he's had a wide and impressive career, but if he had only written The Abyss he would be a legend.

Most certainly - one of my ten favourite scores of all time.
As for THE MUMMY RETURNS....I think it's his last great score (there are a couple of good ones later on, but not on that level). But I was surprised by HERE from this year. It's his best in ages. It even looks to make my top 10 of the year.
Great that you got to meet him, rvpee!

Just rewatched Casablanca, still holds up!

Veruca Salt wanted it NOW. We started asking decades ago at this point.

I thought it was a weird thing to call Spider-Man 2, myself.

Went to the final performance of Broadway’s “Back to the Future” today, and had the unexpected pleasure of meeting the one and only Alan Silvestri! 🤯 Got to have a nice brief chat with him, including telling him how his score for “The Mummy Returns” was a huge part of my childhood, and how to this day I love film scores that incorporate sounds of the Middle East (another favorite genre of mine).
Never thought I’d get to meet him - unexpected bucket list moment! ❤️

Not a problem since he never wrote one of those.

First I thought Lalo Schifrin wrote the score, then I saw that it was by Don Ellis.
Hackman is amazing in this (like in everything).

And an excellent score that haunted me as a kid. Morris' instincts were correct to play the music straight.

Dick Shawn as Hitler.

Young Frankenstein is a masterpiece and I feel is almost underappreciated. Space Balls is garbage. (With two or three all time classic jokes.)

When is the last time LLL released an “obscure Batman and DC cartoon score”? (And how many Williams scores have they put out since then?)

Yeah, ok. ST: II > COCOON
Also; BRAINSTORM > ALIENS
Back then I guess I was too enamoured to criticise the man's work.
Doesn't the KRULL OST start with "Ride Of The Fire Mares"?
That really is starting at 11, but, then again, a film like KRULL was never going to be subtle. The score is, probably, in my top-5 Horner scores

Tallguy got a reaction from Gabriel Bezerra in Star Wars is better than everything
I think I mentioned that I'm performing a little social experiment. One of my daughter's friends wanted to see what this Star Wars thing was all about.
So I started her with Rebels.
Unlike Star Wars where there was no expectation that you knew who these characters are and unlike the prequels where there kind of is, she's getting an "Ezra's eyes" view of the Star Wars universe. It's kind of fun to watch.
And she has said "This music is just next level." Ha! Just you wait.
Oh, she already knows the whole Darth Vader twist so I'm not worried about this being her intro to that.

Goldfinger doesn’t have an expanded release. The LLL is the first one in chronological order, but those four “new” cues were on the original UK LP which is why they still exist. They were on the 2003 reissue edition as well (just not chronological). Music masters for the first three films are lost.
Now, would I still buy an unexpanded LLL anniversary edition of FRWL if it got the Chris Malone treatment like Goldfinger did? Hell yes.
