  1. In fact, do not, futility and all that. WATCHMAN is on tonight. I will see if ZS can impress me for the first time.
  2. Things like the class system aboard the Nostromo and the sexual undertones of the film and the alien itself (which go hand in hand with the aesthetic), as well as Ripley's emergence give the substance. Not sure 300 has any substance, but then again, it is by Frank Miller.
  3. The trailer for THE HOBBIT is very good, but the final FOTR trailer was awesome. I saw it before PHILOSOPHER'S STONE and it was more satisfying than the feature.
  4. My wife is clearin the camera for tomorrow, while the boy and I watch. He danced to the SW end credits. The only other piece of music that gets that kind of severe reaction is the theme from ST-TMP
  5. THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL and STAR WARS so far today, starting THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK now.
  6. Remember. The laser lights are in the egg chamber in the derelict ship (as seen in the PROMETHEUS trailer).
  7. I didn't notice the Gondor theme in FOTR and only realized what it was until the Osgilliah scene in TTT:EE which I saw after the trailer, but still thought it was awesome sauce, and still do.
  8. I like the music, but I don't think it's subtle or particulary sophisticated, It might have been when it was used in the original ALIEN trailer though.
  9. And it's specific here because of a sequence in TH:AUJ/TABA that shares similarities with a scene in LOTR some of us were disappointed with.
  10. I think PJ giving her too much of a personality was a problem, the design took away the scary bits of a spider and gave it fantasy features (the eyes, the growths, the quad fangs) and it was underwhelming. The only it when she was convincingly scary was when you saw her appear out of the hole legs first and stalk him - because that creepy crawly fit into any space feeling is what people hate abuout spiders.
  11. WAR HORSE certainly, TIN TIN not so much. THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS were a lot of fun. DRIVE is fantastic. What I've heard of HUGO and THE ARTIST seems very good. But there are many scores I've missed this year, so will be playing catch-up next year.
  12. I try not to talk to other people who don't share the same taste, it never ends well.
  13. Today I picked up DEATHLY HALLOWS 1, SUBMARINE and THE INCREDIBLES on blu along with ARKHAM CITY for PS3 all for about £50 at the local Best Buy, which is closing down.
  14. Can you link it for me? I can't seem to find it. I keep coming across this one that is labeled as Region B: http://www.amazon.co.../dp/B002XISFGS/ And like some here, I also do not have a Blu Ray player through my computer, but an actual player connected to a TV, so regions do matter in my case. Oh ok. That's the one I found. Although according to this site it is in fact region free: http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-movies-north-america/186228-blu-rays-released-region-b-territories-region-free.html (at least the boxset version is, can't imagine it's different)
  15. John Woo's American films are not great to say the least, but his Hong Kong movies are superb.
  16. I don't like it because it abandons the character of Batman for the sake of Burton's "oh we're all freaks really" complex.
