  1. As usual BloodBoal's poll is as banal and by-the-numbers as possible.
  2. Finally got this today. I feels really surreal holding this in my hand, having waited this long. But awesome.
  3. Sabrina would be miles better with some huge fanfares and music to score lightsaber duels with. Also dinosaurs.
  4. Given that Roger apparently said the first CD release was paired with another score, the general consensus is that this will be THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY.
  5. I think it's probably because the album is essentially the same as the FSM, with some audio tweaks. And while it's a fine score, considering what still remains from Jerry's catalogue, for better or for worse that's probably why people are a little underwhelmed. Especially since we had Trek V last year, which was a knockout release. Although given the rarity of the previous issue (which MV has mentioned), 2000 is an interesting unit count.
  6. But we'd listen to Fanfare for the Common Man whether it was recorded by Copland or Leonard Bernstein. Exactly. Lots of orchestral music have been recorded over and over. No difference with film music, except there are more considerations you might take into account (sync points, order of cues, etc...) yes, but we haven't heard the classical pieces in conjuction with a film. I mean, film music is heard in the film and then as a separate album. Obviously I am talking more about the film music for which i have ssen the films, otherwise for other music I don't mind so much. Although there too, I would like to listen to the original AS it was recorded FOR the film. for example: whatever WIlliams film music I have heard in rerecording fails to live up to the original for me.. Even Jaws?
  7. Holy shit, this sounds fucking amazing. So much better than the original recording. A proper tribute to Basil, this one.
  8. I never do anything that's sensible. Maybe that's why I'm a fan of MR. BASEBALL... I just couldn't really think of any that really bothered me to the point of making a worst of list. I guess Clones is fresh in my mind because I watched it the other day.
  9. So? I don't really care that you don't really care about HOOK. I was referring to that guy who complained everyone was broken up over HOOK. It kind of sucks this is the last LLL batch. I hope Intrada and FSM have something up their sleeves.
  10. My serious answer: The only real one I have issues with is Attack of the Clones (score) - the album is ok and the music is decent, but the spotting is dreadful, which isn't surprising considering the film.
  11. You're all heathens, the real answer is "John Towner Williams is the greatest composer and creative person to have ever walked this earth and none of his scores are anything less than masterpieces, yes even Attack of the Clones."
  12. All those Paramount titles and the one that topped their lists was SCROOGED? To each their own...
  13. Cliff Martinez' DRIVE is a fantastic score and I'd be happy to see it win an Oscar. His scores for TRAFFIC and SOLARIS are also fine works. For the record, I think WAR HORSE will win.
  14. Get ready to hear this tagline when the movie starts marketing: IN MAY 2013, GET READY TO EXPERIENCE THE FINAL FRONTIER... IN 3-D!* http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/1143264/star_trek_sequel_has_a_may_2013_release_date_will_be_in_3d.html
  15. That would suck. I hate it when they do that. I'm sure it'll be a wonderful box, but I won't be buying it.
  16. Maybe one has the complete score over 2CDs and the other has score on 1 and LP on 2 - maybe that would be cheaper? B = Kong and Apes?
  17. In the Varese thread, he made a disparaging comment about Intrada's new edition policy. I know he also kicked off heavily when they started it, but it seems he's still bitter.
  18. Ol' Bruce is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, unhappy about that Intrada thing, isn't he.
