  1. Superman on both. If this were "best" I'd pick CE3K over Superman for movie. Hook is last in both categories.
  2. I beg to differ. There is no scene in the book where Legolas heroically swings on spider-web like Tarzan to save Evangeline Lilly from being the lunch of a monstrous spider, with Thorin (now renamed Giimli) shouting "That pointy-eared *****!". (also, someone should really screencap that Wrath of Khan "humour is difficult concept" subtitle...)
  3. Maybe if the books were written in a form better-suited for adaptation he wouldn't have to put bunnies or ringwraiths or Orlando Bloom in them. BTW, every report I've read complains about the 48FPS.
  4. Earth to Asgard is the second half of the end credits, after the album version of Thor Kills The Destroyer and the Foo Fighters song. Unfortunately, very few of the film versions made the album IIRC.
  5. That bad? Karol Yep. When you get your copy you should just throw it straight in the bin, I mean the CD case will be cracked anyway. The worst thing: no acknowledgement for Angela Morley. Makes my blood boil.
  6. This set is the worst thing ever MV should be ashamed of himself, letting John Williams near it was a recipe for disaster, everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves and quit the soundtrack-making world forever. Still, it's better than it would have been if Varese had done it.
  7. It's okay, his head survives. Futurama told me so.
  8. I only like the Raiders one when it's on the end of the overture, ala the DCC.
  9. This is awesome news, it's such a great score. For a sample, listen to the suite on Charles Gerhardt's album Spellbound: The Classic Film Scores of Miklos Rozsa. Great stuff.
  10. Birth of a nation is an obvious one, the same with Potemkin, at least where editing is concerned. Triumph of the Will also. The Jazz Singer. Kong certainly, especially for us as it contained the first ever real film score. More recently, Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, Raiders, Jaws, The Godfather, The Searchers, Goodfellas, Se7en. Altman's movies like M*A*S*H, Snow White and Toy Story, T2. Could go on forever really in different categories etc.
  11. From the liner notes of The Deluxe Edition: So, in a nutshell, it's Giorgio Moroder's fault
  12. I think a big factor in this would be international distribution, both brick and mortar and online. LFL are going to want this in stores and are unlikely to sign up a limited edition online only deal. Which I think is probably part of why it's prohibitively expensive for the labels.
  13. Loved the episode, greatness. Next one looks good. I can honestly say that this is about the only film/show where I don't care about the music. The underscore is certainly bland, but I think that's a good thing as it can just be background ambience to the dialogue etc. It's usually ok during the bits it needs to be, but I love the show so much I find it hard to really care.
  14. I liked it a lot when I first saw it, but haven't been able to watch it properly since, which is a theme with every QT movie bar JACKIE BROWN.
  15. The RCA has the take log in the back of the liner notes. Also, if you're going to trust anyone, Matessino is that person.
  16. Landa by a hair. Ledger's Joker is amazing though (lol Nicholson).
  17. For me, it's because it's the original tracks. Some sounds were rerecorded for the 5.1 mix (notably, for me, the sound of Brody's gun at the end) and while it may seem anal, those sounds are as ingrained into my childhood as deeply as any notes of John and Jerry's music.
