I find nothing in SW that I cannot listen to. In Raiders, it's different. I can never listen to "The Basket Game." It's great in the movie, but on its own, I always skip it. The same goes for parts of the opening. The rest of it is gold though, but it's never been as complete a listening experience as SW has. Or indeed ESB, but that's an entirely different discussion altogether (and if someone makes an ESB vs TOD poll, I'll scream. Don't make me choose!).

Ditto. I honestly can't think of one current UK band that I like. It all just melds into one big pile of either MOR blandness or garage-band hell regurgitated in the form of a thousand bad Ramones tribute acts.

You have clearly not heard a lot of British music. We have some shocking bands around, especially the ones that are paraded as "great." Then again, I put Coldplay into that bracket.

FIRST BLOOD. Great score. Exciting action music, and that theme is just wonderful.

I AM LEGEND needs to be remade by someone who's actually made it through the novel. The movie was a pathetic shadow of that great work.

So did BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY. I enjoy that more than TRON though. But it's a small blip in a great year, and I agree, superior to 2007.

Star Wars and Star Wars.

I adore Verhoeven. Man is a legend. Recently watched... ROCKY III - Occasionally terrible, mostly awesome. Clubber Lang is my hero. FIRST BLOOD - Still a very good film, although with a political overtone that I'm very much opposed to. At least it's not as bad as in Part II.

Someone needs to do a TRON vs I AM LEGEND poll. Two terrible movies.

Victory Celebration. I do enjoy Yub Nub, especially Gerhardt's version (which reminds me of Thunderbirds for some reason), but it's never carried much weight for me. Great karaoke track, tho.

Man, that's weird. I too prefer "Victory Celebration" over "Yub Nub." It seems to have a bit more weight to it. That, and "celebrate the love" is just a bit too much. The Charles Gerhardt version without vocals is good though.

Love the main theme, and the scoring of the opening montage is very good, but I can't remember anything else from it.

Can't really say much more than that. I love LOTR, but Star Wars just captures something inspirational in me, even with ROTJ's lesser parts. In terms of SE vs EE, some of the things done to the OT weren't great (although I do prefer the SE Victory Celebration music). The EEs are nice but there's not one of them I prefer over the theatrical cut (although how the scene with Boromir and Faramir at Osgilliath was left out of the theatrical TWO TOWERS is beyond me), and the ROTK EE is downright terrible. But anyway, Star Wars without a doubt.

I agree, FYEO is the finest Moore, and a pretty underrated 007 flick. But in terms of CASINO ROYALE, I think it's the best 007 movie. GOLDFINGER's a riot, but CR is the first Bond movie where I've really actually felt like I could relate to him in a human way, which is a big step. That and the sight seeing bits never seem as dull as in the other movies. I have to admit, my interest in the series dwindled a lot when I got older, so much so that I didn't even see CR in the cinema (even when I saw DIE ANOTHER DAY - erk.)

I think it makes sense. Who's going to be the best person to concentrate on for marketing? Clean-cut all American Eckhart, or Heath Ledger in deranged clown makeup? Just think of THE PHANTOM MENACE. Darth Maul was in it, ten minutes tops, but his face was plastered over everything because he had a very simple and effective look, which worked well for the marketing folks selling the movie. Not that I think Ledger will be in TDK for ten minutes, but still...

The DCC version is the RotLA version, right? What did you use that for on ToD? I personally tried to edit the ToD OST finale onto the expanded version and it's relatively good, but could be much better. I still hope some day someone will do it better. Yeah, ROTLA. I used the first 1:30 of it to replace the opening salvo of the Raiders March (that plays when they take the kids back to the village) that isn't present on the DVD rip I have, and then matched that up with the Slave Children's Crusade theme that plays when they give the rock back to the Shaman, then finished it with the end of the OST end credits, as the DVD rip for some reason repeats the British Fanfare at the reprise of Willie's Theme at the end of the credits. So it goes: DCC Raiders March --> DVD rip Finale/End Credits --> OST End credits. It's not amazing, but it works for me.

I think it depends. I've only ever downloaded one movie (RAMBO), which I liked so I'm going to buy the BD when it's out. Music-wise, I will try and obtain something pre-release if it's special (like Indy), but if I don't like it, I'll delete it and I won't buy it, I won't just keep it on my hard drive as a "well, I don't like this much, but I didn't pay for it so..." deal. But if I like it, I'll buy it, like I did with Indy. As previously said, the sound clips are not always a good method to measure them by, and with the current prices of CDs, I just can't afford to buy stuff I don't like. Other than that, I only download unreleased material or OOP stuff. If I'm not being given a chance to legally purchase it from a retailer, as opposed to a ludicrous Ebay auction, I think it's fair game. Then again, I've never been a fan of limited editions, be them CDs or collectibles.

I want to, but I need to set aside some time to match each track to the film, as I'm not that exhaustively familiar with it. I've added the map music to my expanded edition, and made a couple of edits using the British fanfare from the FSM podcast, and an edit of the finale/end credits using part of the Raiders March (DCC, first track).

Shocked. Loved his quote from the doc on THE THING, where he didn't want to take much credit because of all the great work Bottin was doing. Man was legendary, and he was the last person who made decent Aliens.

ESB is at the top for sure. ANH follows closely (the move from Leia's theme to the reprise of the main theme is just amazing). Just after is TEMPLE OF DOOM (damn I want a completely clean version of that cue.) Also a big fan of JAWS and JAWS 2.

Ludicrous. There's no way the movie could ever have ended there.
