I hope, hope, hope this also means Segun Akinola is out and that Natalie Holt has her phone close by.

To me they're both around the same degree of implausibility.

Personally, I'm willing to give just about any movie a free pass for at least one implausible death-defying stunt. Apocalypto had been brought up earlier, and its about as gritty as action films ever get, and yet Jaguar Paw really shouldn't be able to outrun his pursuers for so long after having been pierced by an arrow. Likewise, in The Godfather, Vito really shouldn't have survived the shooting. In The Dark Knight, Rachel shouldn't have survived falling unto a car from a skyscraper with Batman, etc...

The raft one is pushing it because it happens twice: first the raft drops from the sky unto the mountainside, and then again off of a cliff into the river. But I'll let it slide, no pun intended. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is also pushing it simply because I'm having trouble buying this sexagenarian not necessarily surviving all these action scenes so much as going through them without throwing his back...

Also, the fact that it’s a small miracle the labels are able to get anything released in the current climate...you could show some damn appreciation. So it’s not for you, fine, but let those who want it enjoy it. I will definitely be picking up a copy and am so grateful that Intrada are still working to get new releases out there.

“Correction to everyone.  It's not Eon. They are amazing to work with. It's two fold
    1. The new movie delays. No one wants any older soundtracks out before the new movie arrives. Don't ask. This is the case with Top Gun and has been the case in the past (ie Xmen films and Apes films). The studios for some bizarre reason usually do not want any new soundtrack out of something old while the new one is coming out.
    2. Capital Records, now UME, and MGM were right in the middle of renegotiating terms on all the Bond soundtracks right when Corona hit so it put the kibosh on things.
So that is why no new Bond for the moment. We were actually planning 3 at the time...moonraker (40th anniversary) license to kill(30th anniversary) and tomorrow never dies but all on hold”

As to MV’s first point, I’d have thought that the extensive delays to the new film would open up EON to wanting something, anything to get released that keeps Bond out in the zeitgeist. Might as well make use of the extra time by working out merchandise deals. Likewise I hope EON are at least using this time to start planning the next Bond film.

MattyO got a reaction from DarthDementous in The Doctor Who Thread.....
I’ve thought about it a lot since I first saw it and you’re right, they were trying to give the companions an emotional farewell that wasn’t earned. Considering the Doctor had her one and only heart to heart with Ryan in the same episode he leaves. Do the writers really think they’ve done the legwork to get a Davies-era exit episode? No way. Then they shortchange Graham who has been the most compelling of these poorest of companions, making him decide to leave with a shrug. He should have been the focal point - maybe put him in mortal danger for once and let him decide being with the Doc isn’t what he wants after all. Oh and that friggin bike scene. There should have been a title card that read “1 month later, Graham and Ryan come full circle”. Really bad stuff that doesn’t particularly show growth for either of them.

Whilst it was nice seeing Captain Jack back, he felt like a hollow version of his once-great character. Telling everyone he’s immortal instead of showing them. I figured Jack would spring the Doctor from prison, but for it to all happen only 10 minutes in, when the prison setting had been a focal point of the whole advertising campaign. Also, why can’t this Doctor do anything for herself! We’ve seen Twelve in a prisoner scenario but he didn’t just sit around. I’d have preferred for Jack to have tried and failed, only for the Doctor to come up with an alternative. And geez Chibnall, spring for some Judoon to actually be guarding the Judoon prison ship! The Doctor’s imprisonment is left totally unresolved.

The one positive I took from the episode was that finally we were left with just Yaz and the Doctor, finally back to the Doctor-Companion dynamic that we know works. But no, surprise! A new companion is joining them in the next series. And it’s a middle aged white man! That’ll show all the middle aged white men who can’t stand the Doctor being a woman, we’ll include them along for the ride because we certainly can’t have an all female Tardis crew. If they were going to go that route I’d have preferred Jack hang around as a hop-on, hop-off companion like he was during the RTD era.

My final beef is with the music. I listened to the Revolution of the Daleks album and found the same old plinking and plonking that has now run through 2 series. There are moments that try to shine through but they are so thin and melodically simple that they just don’t resonate. I gave Segun Akinola a series to find his feet, then sat up when he pulled out some great Bondian cues in Spyfall. But ultimately I fell in a heap as the rest of series 12 happened and the endless percussive loops beat me senseless. There must be a raft of brilliant composers in Britain who could put proper heart and soul back into Doctor Who. I eagerly await Murray Gold’s series 10 album, the culmination of his genius on the show.

I have watched every Chibnall episode so far, desperately wanting to love it. I think Jodie Whittaker is a brilliant actress being utterly wasted in this role. I am so disappointed that the creator of Broadchurch, with its dedication to compelling characters, hasn’t managed to transfer that to Doctor Who - a show that has thrived on its compendium of interesting characters.

The question is how much longer do I keep watching, hoping for the best?

I think it’s more akin to Spielberg using the original recording of Desert Chase to score The Jungle Chase in KotCS.

There’s quotes from Zimmer saying that they did use Beautiful Lie in the temp and he was trying to write a unique cue but they eventually settled on “well it’s the same cinematic universe and it’s a cue by me, so why not just use the same piece.”

MattyO reacted to crumbs in John Powell's SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY (2018) - Deluxe Edition release coming November 2020
I've tried some unreleased film cues and nothing seems to be coming up for me. Not the Return to the Village cue, film version of Lando's Closet, the jungle drums source music, the film ending of Train Heist, etc. The only track being recognised is the end credits, strangely enough. Maybe the new mix is confusing the algorithm?

On a hunch, I also tried some unreleased sections of the SW prequels and sequels; nothing came up for those either

Curiously, Shazam lists the end credits from The Last Jedi as "Album Finale" rather than simply "Finale," which I found curious. Why specify that Finale as being the "album" version, unless there's an alternative? And in the case of TLJ, we know there's both an early/alternate finale suite plus the film version (which is cobbled together mostly from film cues, rather than the discrete recordings JW made for the credits).

    It's probably nothing........

The biggest stunt that’s been advertised to death in the endless promos for this ill-fated film and that’s the best Zimmer could come up with. No hint of the Bond theme...but plenty of Dunkirk siren wailing. Why’d it take 3 months for him to score this? 3 days should have done it. At least the delay means there’s time to bring Arnold back. Oh, and I’m especially pissed at Zimmer’s PR machine on this - all the talk about being a huge Bond and Barry fan...pig’s arse. Sure, it’s 30 seconds but I’ve given Hans the benefit of the doubt on all of his 2010+ output and Bond is too precious for him to slap his ego all over.
