  1. Ooh, that was fast!! Thanks!! Ordered that gold vinyl, the 7”, and the deluxe CD/Blu-Ray. Interesting the website doesn’t say just how limited these physical releases are, especially the gold and 7” vinyls that are only described as “numbered”.
  2. Fingers crossed for some kind of limited numbered vinyl again. Still kicking myself for missing the Vienna one!
  3. Any word on a limited vinyl edition like the golden /1000 Vienna one?
  4. Public tickets are now on sale! Got Row B all the way to the left, closest one still available after the earlier subscriber purchases.
  5. Very interesting. Granted, asking for an autograph in a concert space is totally out of line, but it’s still a shame how averse he’s become to signing autographs in general since the eBay hounds ruined it. Wild to think that just a handful of years ago, he’d practically hang out outside the Boston stage door taking his time talking with everyone.
  6. I think any live music experience, let alone one with a legend like Williams, feels way more special after the past year and a half.
  7. Chills. Absolute chills. I have paid a pretty penny several times over the years to see the Maestro conduct his work only feet away. I’ve never taken it for granted, but something about it being free today made it all the more surreal. The three pieces Williams and Mutter did were indeed The Long Goodbye, Marion’s Theme, and Han Solo and The Princess (which took an already stunning theme to unbelievable new heights). Williams also came out at the end of the concert with the three other conductors, and they left him to do an encore of The Imperial March. Truly surreal!
  8. Greetings from Symphony Hall! The program only says the same vague “three arrangements for violin” as the website. Not piece names. Guess it’ll be a surprise, though I’d assume two of them will be The Long Goodbye and Marion’s Theme.
  9. Reminder that there’s a free concert today too with three film pieces for violin! It’ll broadcast on BSO Now.
  10. Greetings from the third row! He looked at me quite a bit! Seeing the maestro live will never get old.
  11. That’s what Williams himself called it, if I recall correctly.
  12. An ear more familiar with the original could comment on the sound more than me, but I do believe this concert will be broadcast on the radio. It was the only film piece of the night, though there’ll be two more on Sunday (which I was hoping would be final encores tonight, but there were no encores at all and Williams didn’t appear in the second half).
  13. Currently intermission at Symphony Hall. The encore for the first half was Williams and Mutter doing a violin arrangement of his love theme from “The Long Goodbye”, which I believe was new (especially based on his speech beforehand, which said how there had been vocal versions but never one for an instrumentalist until this one for Mutter).
  14. The free Sunday concert specifically mentions including film pieces.
  15. FRIENDS! The Sunday concert is free and the maestro will indeed be there! And TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AGAIN! https://secure.bso.org/booking/production/bestavailable/23566/post It was sold out, and the BSO website still says it is, so the above link to get tickets isn't even on the orchestra's site anymore. But I had that link (which had said “sold out”) still open in another tab, just refreshed it, and it let me get one even though there's no way to access that page anymore unless you already had the link. I'm surprised and a bit concerned it's letting people get so many (a friend just got 4) if it was so sold out (a BSO employee told me earlier that it was totally sold out and not worth even checking again), but I have the order in my account and email confirmation sooooooo not sure what to think. But click fast!
  16. Here’s info on their refund policy. Could also be worth giving them a call. https://www.carnegiehall.org/About/Financials-and-Policies/Ticketing-Policies
  17. Public tickets for this are now on sale! Originally got Orchestra row P online, but my call to the box office was answered right after and they were able to get third row seats! Off to the side, but third row is third row. Surreal I’ll be seeing the maestro in such an equally legendary venue.
  18. I don’t think any of that concert footage is from this year.
