Andy got a reaction from Jurassic Shark in Temple of Doom is celebrating 40 years in 2024
One thing about the newspaper clippings, the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. There was no inclination toward the negativity that somehow emerged in the internet era.

Andy reacted to Mr. Hooper in Temple of Doom is celebrating 40 years in 2024
Yes! 😄
Almost as impressive as my 'Jaws: The Revenge' clipping collection...
My older brother mocked the 'Jaws: The Revenge' trailer when it came out, and his opinion hasn't changed in 2024...

Andy got a reaction from Brando in Temple of Doom is celebrating 40 years in 2024
My favorite Indiana Jones movie. I had the foldout poster magazine, I had the Marvel adaptation, and I got the collectors edition movie program when I saw it opening day. Here are the original newspaper clippings I've saved from over the years (there's some Raiders in there too)
I remember my sister had a job at the local (brand new) multiplex theater, so she saw everything back then. She hated the stuff I was into, mostly Spielberg and Lucas stuff. I remember opening up the poster mag to the gatefold image of Indy on the rope bridge surrounded on both sides, and even my sister admitted "Yeah, I gotta admit that was pretty cool". High praise from her back then.
I wear a fedora daily. It is based on Temple of Doom style, and has an image of the 3 Sankara stones inside the sweatband, with the inscription "Fortune and Glory"
I'll watch it again.

Andy reacted to Edmilson in Temple of Doom is celebrating 40 years in 2024
Another beloved 80s blockbuster with a classic John Williams score is celebrating 4 decades of existence this year: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which was released in the US on May 23, 1984.
If adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones
I love the classic Indy movies!
How will you celebrate ToD's 40th birthday? Re-watching it? Listening to the epic John Williams score? Doing all of those things?

Andy got a reaction from Amer in Soundtracks, Compilations, or other recently purchased Music
@Amer I adore those old TOS Varese recordings. And nice pickup on the TMP set. It’s an awesome presentation.

Andy got a reaction from GlastoEls in JAWS - 2015 Intrada 2CD Release (Complete film tracks & original LP re-recording)
This was many Halloweens ago.
Here's my daughter and her friend.
And with apologies to @Mr. Hooper, here's me:
Hey I don't need this working class hero crap.
And Here's the family dog, with 3 barrels on 'em:
Quint gets revenge:
Aboard the Orca....
Thanks for indulging me!

Andy got a reaction from Brando in Return of the Jedi at 40
Maybe because by then, after two films, you saw the pattern, knew the conventions, and as a kid, you were so hyped for the outcome to the ESB cliffhanger, your brain was recording the experience differently.
Nevertheless I do agree with you, and you articulated it well. It does capture the essence of the experience somehow. Whether that’s inherently the score (nature) or our childhood responses (nurture), I’m not sure.

Andy reacted to crocodile in What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
Cleopatra. Fantastic score, among North's best. Very rich and always interesting. The three principal themes are to die for.

Andy got a reaction from Gabriel Bezerra in Star Trek is better than everything
I couldn’t agree more.
Probably was a combination of shots being more expensive and time consuming to set up and a desire to streamline the process for efficiency, cost, and comfort of the crew and actors. They found their safe groove, but in some ways it got boring.
I actually really enjoy the early TNG seasons for the reasons you mentioned and for the livelier scoring as well.

I don’t think it’s spotted as well.
I don’t think the action music is as melodic.
I don’t think the reuse of themes from the first film wins it points for ingenuity.
I don’t think it’s associated with a film that’s as innovative or fresh as the first two acts.
I don’t think the new concert worthy themes are as hummable or catchy as the previous ones.
I do however think it takes a wonderful bronze medal. (Or silver if the first two are tied)

Yes these should all show up on Amazon US, for example, eventually

Andy reacted to GerateWohl in The Ol' College Try
Yes, there are composers, that I like primarily for their great themes, like Elmer Bernstein, John Powell or Joe Hisaishi. And there are others, that I like for their way of musical textures, motivic development, variety, poliphony, counterpointing, harmonization, rhythm etc. like Danny Elfman, Don Davis, Dario Marianelli, Franz Waxman.
There are few, who seem to have it all. John Williams is for me one of them. Hans Zimmer wins for me on none of these fields. But as I said, that's just me. But the Lone Ranger theme in that video is really nice. Thank you for the hint.

Andy reacted to Jay in THE ORVILLE - Show Discussion
OMG! A video of Seth directly confirming that more Orville is coming!
(start at 17:26, the play button should bring you right there)
Hopefully it's a season 4, and not a followup movie, but I'll take either!

Andy reacted to Richard Penna in Hans Zimmer's THE THIN RED LINE (1998) - 2019 4-CD La-La Land Edition
Your experience is why I don't have it. I love the OST - it's an hour of serene, concept material. The full release that I sampled just felt like it was going on and on without that variation you need for an interesting few hours.
