  1. If I were Johnny, I’d snub them for setting the artificial bar so high with all of Walt’s Oscar nominations that he didn’t really earn by himself.
  2. Whether that is truly representative of the score, I don't know. But that trailer makes me want to watch the movie. A good Corman cheapie with Tommy guns? Looks good.
  3. Hooper, where are you? Hooper, hurry it up now. Tie it on. Hurry up, he's coming straight for us. Don’t screw it up now.
  4. You probably already know but John Scott also directed the films Top Gun and Gladiator.
  5. Boys! Oh Boys! I think he’s come back for his noon feeding.
  6. Yeah, not bad. Although I’ve only these two and Greystoke The Legend of Tarzan to go by. I’ve listened to both Final Countdown and Kong Lives and they are nothing if not fun. They are thematically memorable with action music of the era and perhaps Goldsmith influenced. The orchestra can sound a bit thin. I’m not sure if that’s due to the recording or orchestrations. But these are enjoyable enough that I’ll come back for more. I happen to think the sweeping theme from Greystoke is his most memorable.
  7. I did!!! Section 7 row B. Looking forward to a JWFan meet up!
  8. Is this where to order tickets? Ticket Center Seems scammy... do we order directly from the BSO page? Hoping that blue button will become active at 10:00
  9. I haven’t seen that either. I don’t need self help for which I’ve already mastered.
  10. One day I’ll listen to mine. Is it good? I only bought it after enjoying Rota’s Romeo and Juliet
  11. I respectfully disagree. Nocturnal Activities deserved to be adapted into a concert version of Willie’s Theme.
  12. Sky Pirates - Brian May Not every score needs to be sophisticated, and Sky Pirates is clearly just for fun. I didn’t really arrive at Brian May the usual way through The Road Warrior, but instead through his Cloak and Dagger score. He has a fun, light on the feet style with, as Roger Fiegelson pointed out, “he uses LOTS of triangle” May is scoring this Raiders Ripoff by appropriately ripping off the Raiders March. But in this case, the B-Theme of Williams’ composition. And then a descending figure reminiscent of Lee Holdridge’s Beastmaster (itself a lift of Stu Phillips’ Battlestar Galactica). It gets repeated a lot, so you’ll be humming it long after. There’s a bit of underdeveloped romantic material too, but this is one I see myself returning to when I just need some light fun. It accomplishes what it’s supposed to. 4/5
  13. I can't find a physical geographic location for Quartet in Madrid. Does anyone know if they have a storefront, warehouse, or anything worth getting a photo of?
  14. No way! I’d have her clean out the Quartet store if I thought her luggage could be crammed without cracked jewel cases!
  15. My kid is studying abroad in Madrid. I gave her the task of locating the store that sells these and obtaining one for her Old Man. I shit you not.
  16. I’d say the odds of Intrada reissuing this are very good, given the recent Horner releases from them.
  17. I recall hearing the Star Trek the Motion Picture theme on a local video store commercial! I of course didn’t know who Goldsmith was, but I did see TMP in the theater. But I didn’t pick up the soundtrack until years later. I first realized whol Goldsmith was while listening to Twilight Zone The Movie through Showtime on cable. We don’t subscribe, so no picture , but the audio grabbed my imagination. That’s when I knew who Goldsmith was. I went out and bought the cassette. Not my pics but I still have it and it looks like this.
