Just now, A Farewell to Kings said:
Wasn't Jabba the Hutt recorded in that session?
Well, yeah: it’s one of the concert arrangements. -

So this is a film cue and still faked. Then we can't be sure about the missing tape.
The revised ‘Return of the Jedi’ (4M4R Jabba’s End) was recorded as part of the album sessions, though, along with the concert arrangements and end credits. -

Well Mike definitely made the right decision sticking the film version of "Learning the Ropes" in the bonus section. Still glad it's included though.
Yes, absolutely! It’s not just that the rhythm track is extremely 90s and dated; the orchestral overlay just doesn’t gel very well with it to my ears. It was an inspired choice to present the overlay separately, especially since it’s the introduction for both of the film’s secondary themes, Moonlight and How Can I Remember.
-
Linus’ New Life is the standout among the alternates so far: it’s quite different from the revised version, and ends on a surprisingly ambiguous tone, in contrast to the clear resolution of the ultimately used cue.
My first thoughts on PITM - SOS:
These two songs from Sabrina really do stand comfortably alongside all the well-known standards presented (in superb arrangements) on this disc, which is truly a remarkable achievement.

It's the same with the sheet music, isn't it?
Right, though I wasn’t sure if it was recorded in that form.I guess if I’d watched the film I’d already know!Update: no, the film doesn’t use this version.@Jay Is the main program End Credits the same as the actual film version?
-
Worth noting that the End Credits track has additional instrumentation along with the solo piano not found in the Theme from Sabrina tracks, which adds some nice variety.

I just got through the main program: it’s unlikely to change the mind of anyone that didn’t already enjoy OST, but for anyone that did, it’s nicely fleshed out, with plenty of lovely moments that didn’t make the original album. Now on to the alternates and disc 2!

How much of the Sabrina score is not on the OST?
This is kind of a Spacecamp moment again. Could that be?
I’m only aware of one major cue that’s not on the OST (the finale, see above), though there could certainly be alternates or cues that were dropped. The full score of the end credits has additional instrumentation written to accompany the piano solo that ultimately wasn’t used, so that’s one possible alternate, if a take with the extra instrumentation exists.

I didn’t think so! I certainly wasn’t expecting two CDs for this one. The most significant missing cue I know of is the finale, M36 Catch That Girl. -

Isn't there a concert version of The Jedi Steps or is my memory tricking me?
Yes, but it doesn’t appear to have been written or recorded as part of the film sessions, however, similar to the Han Solo and the Princess arrangement that appeared as part of the concert suite around the time of the release of ESB.- Brónach and enderdrag64

Was this concert arrangement ever released in its full version on the OST? Or does the OST only includes the part of 3M35 that was used in the movie?
No, the OST only includes the section that was used in the film:3 The Secret of the Scrolls
0:00-0:51 3M35 The Unicorn Theme
0:51-1:04 1M5A You’re In Danger
1:04-1:25 1M5 The Library Scene
1:25-1:34 5M25B Raising the Rolls
1:34-2:16 1M6A Snowy and the Cat
2:16-2:28 1M6 Insert - Following Tin
2:28-end 1M6 Empty Drawers
The full piece continues on for at least another minute, and builds up to a climax, similar to the treatment of the theme at the beginning of ‘Sir Francis and The Unicorn’, and then winds down to a quiet conclusion with the same repeating figure the piece opened with. The numbering would seem to indicate The Unicorn Theme was an early candidate for the end credits.

Do we have any reason to think that the piano part in the 1977 recording is any different?
The Hal Leonard keyboard part is condensed from the two keyboard parts of the 1977 original: sometimes both piano, and sometimes piano and celeste. -

44 minutes ago, Edmilson said:How much music in general did JW recorded for Tintin, including the early and newer scores?
Let’s see: there’s 92 minutes of JW scoring in the finished film. There’s some odds and ends that weren’t used that would bring that up a few minutes. My estimate is 96 minutes total. I estimated the early score material that was revised is 62 minutes, but some of the same material was reused with new inserts, so it wouldn’t add quite that much to total. From these numbers, I’d estimate around 140 minutes recorded in total. -

We need a half-laughing, half-crying reaction for this.7 hours ago, crumbs said:So when Mangold keeps referring to two hours of music, he must be referring to music in the film. 120 minutes of music for a 142-143 minute Indy film sounds right.
The protracted recording sessions would indicate another ~30 minutes of music recorded – album suites, alternates, inserts, etc.
Here’s the sequel trilogy for a point of reference:TFA 136 minute runtime, 174 minutes recorded (128%)
TLJ 152 minute runtime, 184 minutes recorded (121%)TROS 142 minute runtime, 226 minutes recorded (159%)
Yeah, I think at least 2.5 hours of music recorded and 2 hours in the film is probably a safe bet for Indy 5.

It's so heartbreaking that Tintin falls under the new AFM rules, making it effectively inaccessible to the labels. I'd love to hear this score expanded!
Well, I would have thought that about Rogue One, but somehow it still happened. Maybe it’ll be possible to negotiate at some point.- enderdrag64 and Edmilson
