  1. On ToD, I noticed that the choir in "Approaching the Stones" seems to be from a different take on the 2008 CD then the choir you hear on the film. And the Indy fanfare in the final moments of "Short Round Helps" also appears to be a different take as well. Given the carelessness that the ToD 2008 CD had when it was assembled (wrong pitch and unbalanced sound from the different source materials used), I'm sure I can point many instances of different takes, but I'd have the revisit the score and movie (which I haven't done in quite sometime now). But those two I pointed are the ones more obvious to me that I noticed when I first listened to it many years ago when it came out.
  2. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the 1980s CD release... it's the same.
  3. One thing I noticed is the "Detention Block Ambush" portion of the "The Last Battle", from about 1:00 to the end of it (when Han tries to stall the troopers from the radio, and Lukes rushes to the Princess' cell to rescue her and delivers the memorable line "I'm Luke Skywalker, I'm here to rescue you!), a different take was used on the '77 album that is not present on the '93 Anthology nor the '97 SE. According to the booklet, takes 150 to 154 were recorded, and takes 153 and 154 were selected (which I assume are the takes used to create both the film mix and the 97 SE as well). The curious thing is that the 2018 dismaster did not replicate that unique take of the '77 album, so it remains exclusive to the album (and the 2016 re-release of it).
  4. Here's an interesting article about all the cuts that were demanded for the UK theatrical release... https://melonfarmers.co.uk/bbfc_cuts_temple_of_doom.htm
  5. Temple of Doom is such a heartwarming film. I don't get why people got so upset about it...
  6. The cool thing is that, even at 91, he'll probably attend the cerimony as he always does, even knowing he's not going to win.
  7. If I read correctly somewhere, it's because, by 1984, recording engineer Eric Tomlinson wasn't working for Anvil Studios anymore (were they recorded the OT and Raiders as well). So maybe it was more "convenient" to stay in the US.
  8. From time to time I revisit this wonderful article from Chris Malone about not only the recording process, but how "chaotic" it was to produce this boxset. Very interesting reading... https://www.malonedigital.com/starwars.pdf Makes me sad to think that RotJ could sound terrific in the 1997 2CD set as it did in the Anthology set.
  9. That flute from 0:06 to 0:11 of Rescuing Sarah Alternate definitely reminded me Robert Altman's "Images". Spooky.
  10. I really don't know what to say about that. No offense to the reviewer, but I'm pretty sure he/she didn't get the "proper" leaked version. The 2014 Legacy edition is hissy as hell! I mean... hiss in a 1994 recording from a major studio?
  11. Finally got to see it last night. So many recognizable themes from the trilogy throughout the film. I wonder how many people in the theater were able to spot those themes It's soooooooo satisfying to see this in the credits.
  12. Yes! I remember how dissapointed I was when they released The Lion King in 2014. Boy, that CD sounds utterly BAD! The leaked recording sessions that I got a couple of years prior to this release are still my go-to version to listen.
  13. This is amazing! God, I could barely remember that I once tackled with this. Can't believe it's been that long! I sure miss those days when I had more time to "play" with such things like creating my own edits and stuff like that. Anyway, those unedited takes still sound superior not only to the 97 edition itself but the 2018 dismasters as well. I wish the whole thing could sound like this. Thanks for bringing back such fond memories from those days... and, of course, congratulations for your excellent and hard work!
  14. I totally agree that both companies have finite (meaning "limited") resources. Same thing for their skills for audio engineering, apparently.
  15. Why didn't they provide a new proper master for the regular 2 channel mix, instead of the "old" 2018 master? Even a 2-channel downmix of the atmos version sounds better and more balanced here. Screen_Recording_20230525_224057_Apple Music.mp4 Screen_Recording_20230525_224632_Apple Music_1.mp4
  16. If you turn off the spatial audio option, that botched edit will be there. Now if you turn it on, the botch is gone. Also, even if you turn off the Dolby Atmos option from your device but keep the spatial audio from the Apple Music app turned on, you'll still have the botch-free edit. That's... interesting.
  17. Impressive! Is this actual discrete multi-channel audio, like L-C-R? Or did you use an audio software to extract the center channel from a 2-channel stream?
  18. It's the perfect occasion because I missed the 40th anniversary edition back in 2017. Now this 45th anniversary will happily sit next to my 35th anniversary E.T.. My OCD appreciates it. (jokes aside, I'm really really glad those are back in print)
