  1. Whether the DCC is better than the leaked Concord release, I agree with you, KM. We can debate it better once we have the OFFICIAL releases. But, just by hearing Washington Men, Bad Dates and Indy Rides the Statue with decent (if not amazing) quality, makes me shiver of thinking about how it'll be when I listen to Stealing the Stones from TOD and The Power of the Grail with the same decency... uuuhh
  2. I'm alone, I see... Well, the bass sure is improved, that won me. I'm a bass lover... But I'll always keep my lovable DCC edition because of the superb complete versions of Basket Game and Desert Chase, wich I'll pray it get rectified for the OFFICIAL release...
  3. The quality is ok. I don't know if it's legit, but definitly doens't sound like a bootleg...
  4. Just because the bass is a little punchier doesn't mean the overall quality is an improvement. To my ears it's very muddled. If we consider the LEGO video game rip, I'm cool with it 'cause the non-SFX tracks have not only good treble quality, but superb bass quality too. I can't quite explain why, but I liked this new mix more than the 1995 mix... let's just wait and see if this is THE OFFICIAL RELEASE that will be in the box... apparently it is, but who knows... we have 34 days left, and that's a looooooong time... many things can happen... The mix in the LEGO game is a step down from the ToD OST in terms of clarity, but you are right that the OST had very weak bass. If this is what we get, fine. However, it's really too bad that this new release of Raiders is actually a step down from the previous one in terms of quality. It's Return of the Jedi all over again - well, not *that* bad, but you get the idea. Definitly not! Ehehehehehe... I got the idea. But I think that, in Raiders case, the quality is not so much of a step down, but more of a "sacrificing some the treble to give more room to the bass", and somehow that seemed more pleasent to my ears...
  5. I wouldn't say better, but it definitly has more bass power. And I'm very happy with the attention they gave to the choral section from "Map Room: Dawn", they even toned down the basses and drum-beats so we can hear it better...

  7. Considering the bass improvment of the new Raiders disc, I'm pretty sure (and pretty happy too) that TOD will have the same treatment, since the original release has a complete lack of bass quality...
  8. Another thing I noticed about the Raiders disc: the bass is much more powerfull than the 1995 release. Pay attention at the 00:27 mark from "Reunion in the Tent/Searching for the Well" and compare with its "Reunion And The Dig Begins" counterpart...
  9. The hell with it. I'm posting the print screens of it. These two are "The Map Room: Dawn" from the 1995 and 2008 releases. They look virtually the same, but the 2008 release seems to give emphasis to the choral and the bass sections. And the 1995 release seems to be some what louder. Notice how both tracks have limited frequency range... with the exception of Washington Men, Bad Dates and Indy Rides Rides the Statue (wich I'll poste below), the entire album is excatly like this: with limited frequency range... Anyway, "The Map Room: Dawn" is mother f*ck*ng cool track! It certanly rules!!!!!!!!!!!! And the third print screen is from the unreleased "Indy Rides the Statue". You can see how it takes advantage of the full dynamic range that CD has to offer (22,05 kHz per channel).
  10. I just analyzed some cues (including the three unreleased tracks) with Adobe Audition, and I noticed something funny: the entire album seems to come from the same masters used for the 1995 DCC release (with frenquencies cut above 20-21 kHz), but the three unreleased tracks have a full dynamic range, all the way up to 22,05 kHz. Meaning: the unreleased tracks are mathematically (and maybe audibly) much better than the entire album... I don't know if I'll get in trouble by posting print screens of it...
  11. No, this release contains all of it - the original 8M3 Escape from the Pit. The bit from the film - what we know as "Through the Wall" - is an alternative cue, 8M3 Fix. Hum... okay! But, this "alternate" version is the one we hear in the movie, right? So, by all means, it's the original version we all grew listening to... don't you agree? Stop saying nonsenses... people are waiting for decades for this...
  12. That's me! Just remembering the facts: -The two unreleased tracks "Washington Men" and "Indy Rides the Statue" sounds great, nowhere near as horrible as the bootleg. BUT, "Indy Rides the Statue" is actually only "The Mummy Cave" part, and not Indy knocking the statue down through the wall. -The previously released "Basket Game" and "Desert Chase" are butchered just like the original 1981 album -The sound mix is pretty much the same as the John Neal's original 1981 album mix, wich gives a great emphasis to the choral mix in "The Map Room: Dawn", but for the rest, it's not as good as the Steve Hoffmann 1995 DCC mix.
  13. The only difference between this and the album is "Marion's Theme." On the original album it was jarringly combined with "To Cairo." That's why I think this has to be a sort of test album or a work in progress... there's no way they're presenting us a long waited and beatifully assembled box-set with THIS album as a "sneak preview"...
  14. We don't ACTUALLY know if it's legit, but it's very likely that yes, it is! The two unreleased tracks sounds pretty fine, not nearly as horrible as the bootleg. And the mix is very much close to the original 1981 album, that was mixed by John Neal, with only one difference: the pitch is now correct. So I think this legit (unfortunatelly)...
  15. TOD, LC and the 5th album are the only hope for me to give at least a smile about this box. I also hope you're right about it...
  16. I still can't believe they butchered "Basket Game" and "Desert Chase" just for the sake of keeping the spirit of the original album release... it just doesn't make any sense! Those tracks were allready released in their complete forms once... Things we'll never understand...
  17. Sure... if the only instruction was "keep the original album edits", so we're fine with TOD and LC, 'cause the few music that these original albuns have, at least are complete!
  18. 'Cause when you read "Indy Rides the Statue", I think it comes to your mind the scene where Indy climbs and "knocks" the statue down, and not the scene of Marion being "chased" by skeletons... And what've they done with Basket Game and Desert Chase... my Lord! They really managed to screw this way up! Catastrophical, to say the least! Somehow, I knew I'd have to stick with my good old 1995 DCC. My only luck is that disc 5 has "Uncovering the Ark", wich will save me from buying a very expensive $70 double LP, for wich I don't even have the necessary equipment to play it nicely...
  19. I'm sort of disappointed now! "Basket Game", "Desert Chase", "Indy Rides the Statue"... definitely not what I was expecting... I'm affraid of what they could've done with the other 3 albuns...
  20. This album must be a "work in progress"... the mixes are very much like te John Neal mixes from the original 1981 album, and also the lenghts of "Basket Game" and "Desert Chase"...
  21. Obviously people (especially noobs) don't look at previous pages. I posted a few pages back that Peter owner of MovieMusic got word that the individual releases are being held off until next year, so only the box set is coming out this year. That's probably a wise move by Concord, don't want anything disrupting the sales for the box set for now. Maybe you should tell them first... http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm?ID=10404#
  22. I'd sacrifice "The Raiders' March", sure! We already have it on Raiders (with the original Marion's Theme on it and those final 50 secs with the woodwinds), also on Temple and on Last Crusade... so yes, it's a wise choice to sacrifice from the 5th CD to give room to "A True Believer". But, that's life...
  23. Figures... well, I'll keep my dvd rip... but still upset about it!!! Anyway, 7 days for Raiders!!! Our only appetizer in a (looong) month...
