La La Land will be bought by Disney! I know this 'cause Mike Mattesino talks in his sleep.

I think they should bring back Short Round in the next one. Only now he has one eye and is bitter at Indy for abandoning him on a boat on the Yangtze. So today he's the henchman of the son of Belloq, bound for revenge.  And they've already claimed their first victim: a kid called Mutt.

Nice to know that. I still miss the a good old track-by-track analysis, with slates, dates, what portions were used or dropped, etc. Kind of reminds me of Intrada's 2007 "Alien", one the best booklets ever written.

Intrada's Alien has my favorite liner notes of all time, too.  Right up there with the Superman blue box.

Delivered today!  The liner notes are certainly unique compared to previous releases, as it is not an in-depth track-by-track analysis but rather a dedication to those who served.  The last blurb regarding Mr. Matessino was definitely a nice touch and got me misty-eyed just reading it, very well done sir!

In my opinion, the liner notes are perfect because to me they serve as a parallel to the music in film.... sparsely populated but hitting all the right emotions as the story progresses.

Can’t wait to give this a listen tomorrow!

MM, if you’re reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart.  My father’s father served in the Army in WWII and Korea, and though he died before I was born, this music and 20th anniversary presentation in a way brings me closer to him.  Thank you!

Why does JW always has to top himself, making it difficult for us to decide wether the original or the sequel is better? There are days where I like SW better than ESB, but depending on the moon's phase and the alignment of the planets, I like ESB better. Same thing with Raiders x ToD, JP x TLW. He definitely doesn't make things easy for us.

When they do eventually come out, Disney is gonna have a hell of a time explaining to Joe Public what the hell they are, in the sea of reissues, remasterings, SEs, album presentations and the UE. It's a mess.

The last reissues don't help because the average consumer doesn't know or care about what rights were reverted back to whom. It's just.... yet another release.

I should also clarify that my general apathy towards the SPR release has nothing to do with the 'for the books' comment or any disappointment of that kind. I just find it amusing that for a score a that a lot of people have said they found dull, the moment a MM 'expansion' is announced, suddenly the completists emerge. It's nice that it's happening; I just don't think it's worth the hype. (a bit like Up being release on CD.... a total non-event)

I think the real takeaway from this is that there are more Williams releases in the works. Sure, I too thought we'd have more to celebrate by now. There is some disappointment, but I'm not in anyway annoyed at the label for their annoucement which at least up until today hasn't exactly lived up to its promise. There are still a few months left though, and I won't complain if some of the releases expected this year are released next year. The sooner the better though^ I'm sure it's been said by others, but these projects can get delayed and put in hybernation at the last minute waiting for some legal matter to be resolved and/or for someone in authority with a busy schedule to say "yes".

The problem is that we were promised this year was gonna be "one for the books". So far, except for Schindler's List, which is only due in november or december, nothing much happened. A year ago tomorrow, on September 12th, E.T. was up for sale already, and I think word was out that CE3K was coming soon as well, or it was announced already. SPR is a great score, but not enough to be released in the last quarter of the "book year". It's kind of disappointing.

Did the simple test.  Only got two "right."  For me, the 320 mp3s sounded just about right for everything.  The Neil Young segment , though, was noticeably superior in the top format.

I got 4 of those right, but Tom's Diner was the only one which didn't really need any guesswork. Don't know if I could reproduce this number a second time.

The specialty labels are known for torturing fans psychologically who don't buy all their releases. They manage keep those people hostages in the darkest and stinkiest places of theiir minds, with depravation of reason and moral starvation.
