  1. Didn't The Orb do a song called 'Little Fluffy Clouds'.

    Did Gilmour guest on that?

Apparently Steven Wilson, who recently remixed Richard Wright's Wet Dream (recommended - check it out on your streaming service!), is now remixing David Gilmour's debut album.

I've not heard Wilson's remix of WET DREAM, but any Wilson remix is well worth listening to.

What he's done for Yes, King Crimson, and XTC, is astonishing.

I wish he would remix some Floyd. I'm getting a little bored with James Guthrie's style.

Heck, I'd take Elliott Scheiner over Guthrie.

I like all his movies.  Well, I never saw the Piranha one

PIRANHA 2: FLYING KILLERS is not at all bad, actually.

The female lead is a proto-Ripley, in both looks, and character.

I hated what they did to John Connor in Dark Fate. They really did him dirty on that movie...

    Agreed.

Did they try to get Furlong back, for DF?

It would have been at least watchable, with him.

    Wh... Where's Mexico?

  3. He was the "inspiration" behind DF, he co-wrote the story, and he co-produced it.

He's just as guilty as the rest of them.

If box office is anything to go by, then, yes, he's still successful.

Artistically, though, he peaked with THE ABYSS.

  4. Most live albums used to be collated from various performances on one, or more, tours.

It was rare that a single entire concert was released.

Nowadays, all sorts of concerts are recorded and filmed for release.

Entire box sets are dedicated to a band's entire output from a particular era (case in point: King Crimson).

At least FLASHPOINT sounds better than STILL LIFE ;)

Question: I'm looking to buy Flashpoint by the Rolling Stones, but am I correct in saying that, for some stupid reason, a complete album was never released? They seem to have recorded more stuff that was only released as b-sides, whatever those are.

FLASHPOINT is a live album. It documents (in part) the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle tour.

The full concert can be found on STEEL WHEELS LIVE, released in 2000.

  6. Thanks, @Thor

As I said: it comes from a lifetime of listening to music, getting to know what "sound" producers choose to employ.

To respectfully disagree with my illustrious JWfaner, I am not a genius, I merely have a "good ear".

Sure, I'm just saying if you're a DP who also directs, you're sure to be very opinionated on directorial issues, and depending on the director and the project that can get you into trouble...

... like Peter Hyams and 2010.

Apparently, the suits said that it was too dark.

Peter Andrews, on the other hand, always lights impeccably :)
