  1. TLIW?!! SIT???!!! THE OMEN?????!!!!!!!!!! I've just come. Let's hope that TFC is in there, somewhere? It's nice to see BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS included
  2. Let's hope that TES sounds better than either its original vinyl release, and the Verese CD. The Gernhardt? Is that the one with the Ralph Macquarie painting, the one that is often referred to as "Digital Empire"?
  3. Perhaps we should have a BITCH THREAD, where all our frustrations are taken out on posts and posters, exclusively, and have only nice comments on the rest of the threads?
  4. Oh, wow, another golden nugget from Pube (!). Its been a long time since anyone said "no", to you, hasn't it. Either that, or your balls must be huge. So, the guy made an innocent mistake; is that any reason to jump down his throat, like that? I can't wait to watch you "f**k up", because JWfan is going to be all over you, like a rash, and I'm going to be there, laughing. Take your pathetic, sophomoric vitriol someplace else, and leave the subject of film music discussion to the grown-ups.
  5. This is really getting on my tits. "Not song" this, "not song" that. Who the hell cares? The guy joined 11 hours ago, so can we cut him some slack, for f**k's sake? What are we, the song police?! Cues are often referred to a songs. We should be celebrating a new member, not criticizing them right out of the gate. As to what synthesizer it is; find out when it was recorded (1991?) then research what synths were popular, back then (DX7, maybe?).
  6. E.T. From fear, to sadness, to despair, to joy, to exhilaration, to agony, to gratitude... and that's just ADVENTURES ON EARTH, surely JW's musical apotheosis.
  7. Without a hint of a shadow of a doubt, it's 1978! MAGIC might not be "top shelf", but TBFB is absolutely stunning, and, whatever way you slice it, a major work. Marian...oh, fuck it (punches computer screen). I hear what you're saying, Pub, but I'm still not convinced, for two reasons: 1) I seem to recall seeing the credit "Performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra" on the LP sleeve, and 2) I was under the impression that JG recorded this as a "job lot", in England, , along with TBFB, and CAPRICORN ONE. Either way, it's a fantastic score!!!!
  8. There's a song on one of their recent CDs, about New York. I quite like that one. Perhaps I'll give them another listen.
  9. According to Jerry Goldsmith Online (not to mention my ears!) it was, and there is. FFI, please see JGO > Soundtracks > The Swarm > previous release(s) > WB LP re-recording, 1978.
  10. I am talking about the Prometheus release. How can the Prometheus sound like the LP, since it was recorded in a completely different studio, by a completely different orchestra, and on a completely different continent?
  11. A J.R.R. Tolkien exhibition runs from June 1 to October 28, next year, at The Bodleian Library, Oxford. Is anyone planning to go?
  12. It sounds like it was recorded underwater, and the booklet is pitiful. It's not quite complete. Having said that, it is an absolutely essential purchase.
  13. Good. Let's hope that it improves on the, frankly shabby, Prometheus release? Also, any chance of a 2-disc set, featuring the OST?
  14. They're both good. TES is a little like EARTHQUAKE in its mix of jazz, and more formal underscore. GLORIA, from MONSIGNOR, is just...well...glorious! Look it up, on YouTube.
  15. Well, Crimson is still touring, as a 7-piece band, and just released a very nifty box set. The Dan has no plans to record again, but they do tour, occasionally, so never say never. So, because I don't like Mumford And Sons does that make me a real hipster? What does a real hipster listen to? True, I don't think that many true hipsters like to sit in the dark, listening to THE MUSICAL BOX (in dts 5.1, thank you kindly), but you never know...
  16. Not in Notting Hill, it isn't! Hipster music at its worst. It has nothing to say, and it has no idea how to say it. It's the same with that "one day like this a year'll see me right" band, whatever they're called.
  17. If being a future hipster means smoking roll-ups, living in Notting Hill, and listening to Mumford And Sons, then I'll pass.
