Naïve Old Fart

I love The River. I don't like ratting this things, but I come back to some of the tracks on a rather regular basis. Back in the mid 90's when the CD was released, it was yet another of those surprises, as one was quickly acknowledging the variety of styles Williams was able to work on. In recent years, it has been a joy to pick the 1984 released LP and play it. For some reason, despite sound quality issues, I really have a kick listening to this one on vinyl.

It's a hugely entertaining caper film too. I prefer 13 over 12 myself, although I don't mind the trilogy as a whole, they're fun films.

Certainly the emotional impact, as well as the sheer huge scale of the film, which dwarfed everything else at the time. And the score emboldened my interest in film music.
