  1. No comments regarding 3.5? What, did you guys just quit watching the show?
  2. He said once in interview around 2001, I believe, that he was not particularly religious but was somewhat spiritual.
  3. Good lord, please let the horror of that mental image not be carved into my brain for eternity! Ray, you probably shouldn't watch the orignal British series if you'd like to continue enoying the Amercan version. I've only watched a few episodes of the show and it just comes across as extremely watered down and tame when compared to the original. You have far more patience than I do Ender. It was agonizing to wait several months for the Christmas Specials to be released on DVD in the US after watching the first two series on BBC America.
  4. Yeah, Tim, but you see it's a bit difficult for me to find the time to drive all the way to Philly from Texas. Mark's local, that's why I was asking him
  5. It is out of print in the US. If you haven't gotten it yet, you can always get it from Amazon.co.uk like I did. Even with shipping costs from the UK it's a cheaper alternative than Buysoundtrax. Really Mark? I even tried several shops in Austin and couldn't find it.
  6. SuperHeroHype.com has posted a link to Superman-V.com's interview with John Ottman in which he discusses his approach to editing and scoring. He also mentions his influences as a composer and talks about the scores for X2, Fantastic Four, and Superman Returns.
  7. Shaun of the Dead, which was much better than I expected it to be. I didn't expect it to be terrible, but I'm not a huge fan of horrie or zombie films in general. I also liked the fact that the comedy never strays into parody territory either.
  8. TheForce.net is reporting a possible release date of May 3rd for the CD as well as news that it will include a bonus DVD. No news on what the DVD will contain. They're not listing any sources for the information.
  9. Ricard, I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family as well.
  10. Not that the Cocker rumor isn't disconcerting, but why should we assume that if he were to compose the score for GoF that it wouldn't be symphonic? I have to wonder, in the past, did film score fans have similar reactions of panic about Danny Elfman and news of his being attached to his first high-profile projects?
  11. Only if you completely disregard the fact that there isn't any actual ancient legend revolving around a "Sorcerer's" stone.
  12. As far as I'm concerned The Incredibles is yet another Pixar masterpiece, but more importantly, writer/director Brad Bird's work is finally getting the attention it derserves on the big-screen.
  13. Ugh, look for the effects to be underwhelming. SuperheroHype.com has news from The Hollywood Reporter that Sony Imageworks has landed the job. This is the same house responsible for the less-than-stellar work and some the worst digital doubles ever in both Spider-Man movies. Let's hope they can at least learn to composite their shots properly by 2006
  14. Yes it is. It's obvious now that I really shouldn't be typing after working a graveyard shift.
  15. Comingsoon.net has posted Disney's press release concerning the score album from the Incredibles, including excerpts from the CD booklet's liner notes.
  16. As I'm not a Bond fan, I couldn't care less; however, I'm still thankful M:I2 went over schedule and he had to drop his role in X-Men. There's no way in hell he could be better than Jackman as Wolverine!
  17. The Digital Bits has posted their detailed review of the trilolgy, including still images of the major changes with side-by-side comparisons to '97 special editions.
  18. Two glaring omissions from this poll are Journey to Hogwarts and A Change of Season from PS/SS. When the Music's Over - The Doors
  19. This "news" is over two year's old. It started with producer Frank Marshall right around the theatrical release of the E.T. 20th Anniversary edition. He mentioned the Raiders DVD being in the works and that would likely have cleaned up, and possibly new, effects shots. Yes some techincal mistakes were corrected for the release, obviously is was nothing as major as it was made out to be. Typical wild speculation as usual.
  20. Regarding the issue of Christensen replacing Shaw, chronologically speaking, it does make some sense though he should have been slightly aged with make-up. Even setting aside the prequels and special editions, Shaw was just far too old when cast in the role. Vader/Anakin was Luke's father, not his grandfather, and should have been somewhere between 45 and 50 at the time of his death. Shaw was 76 when the film was photographed, almost a decade older than Guinness and visibly so. Therefore, it's difficult to believe the man was supposed to be Obi-Wan's former apprentice. It's convincing enough when we see him scarred and disfigured but not in spirit form. I've always considered it a slight continuity error. Honestly, my biggest problem with the changes to the scene has more to do with the technical quality of its execution. If it's going to be done, it shouldn't look like an amateur cut-and-paste job with the technology that is readily available to ILM. I freely admit to having a major interest in director's cuts, special editions, and/or extended versions of my favorite movies from both artistic and technical points-of-view. However, I'll always buy the theatrical editions as well, whenever possible, because they preserve my first impressions of the films. The fact still remains that revisionist filmmaking is only of interest to a smaller niche market, not a mass audience. The sooner Lucas comes to realize that the better. Consequently, I will continue to argue for the release of the original cuts of the trilogy on DVD. As William mentions above, a large number of people worked extremely hard to help bring these films to life and make it the pop-cultural phenomenon it has become. It's wrong of Lucas to ignore not only that, but also 20 years of film history and fans' memories.
  21. A little research into the domain ownership proves that douglasmanagementgroup.com is a bogus site. It's registered to a firm that runs online dating services and SPAM mailing programs. This site manufactured the rumor that Oldman was cast in Episode III in the first place. Unfortunately, the rumor was picked up by several news outlets, despite the fact that the casting was never confirmed by Lucasfilm, and without any research into the legitmacy of said site. The story has already been pulled from TheForce.net.
  22. Neil, would it be possible to make this thread "sticky"? so that it doesn't get lost in the crowd of new posts?
  23. You did get the set with II and III properly framed in widescreen, I take it? I put off buying the set for a year because of the fiasco and still maganaged to wind up with a set that was framed incorrectly because Universal didn't bother to recall them. At least their customer service department was quick and courteous about replacing the faulty discs.
