  1. I voted for "Born on the Fourth of July", as this was the soundtrack that brought me to filmmusic in general, and to John Williams especially. Although "Schindler´s List" may be a better vote... -Alawill
  2. So, I just found a note from myself :!: about that thing: Author: Poché, Bill Joseph Title: Musical Content and the Thematic Process in the Star Wars Concert Suites of John Williams San Diego State University, San Diego 1995. Maybe anyone could be of help? Yours, Alawill
  3. Hi, I think a year or so ago, I found in a college library a diploma thesis (hope that´s the right word) about the music used in Star Wars (the original), about leitmotif and so on. Does anyone know this papers? As I live here in Austria, it would be rather difficult to get it, so maybe anyone could be of help? Yours, Alawill
  4. Hi, the Soundtrack of "Angela´s Ashes" has been released twice - one by decca, the other by Sony. The Decca-release is without Narration, the Sony-release is with Narration. So you probably have bought the Sony-release. Yours, Alawill
  5. The link is unavailable at the moment, but I will upload the file again, if some guys are interessted. But this may take a while, as "Across the Stars"-single needs the space now... All the best, Alawill
  6. I came in touch with filmmusic while watching "Born on the Fourth Of July" 1990 in cinema. I was 15 years old and impressed by the Trumpet-solos by Tim Morrison. One of the next days I went to a music store and bought the CD. A few weeks later a friend of mine gave me a cassette, which contained the very best themes of the Star Wars Triolgy. I loved the Main Theme, but wasn´t impressed by the rest... But after hearing it twice, I loved every single note of all. Again a few time later, I recogniced that "Born on the 4th" and "Star Wars" have been composed by one and the same guy. From this point on, I looked for JW-scores in every single music shop I visited. But it took me many years to find out, who this guy looks and who it is (after all, Internet wasn´t much established at this time). And therefore I also didn´t recognize, that I bought "rare" scores while shopping in Paris ("Spacecamp", "Accidental Tourist")... So, that´s my story.
  7. FYI, FSM stating Space Camp to be released by http://www.supercollector.com Yours, Alawill
  8. In the meanwhile, while waiting for the AOTC-single, I would like to offer another music file to you: it is an arrangement, which I made for the band I´m playing in. Don´t expect too much of style, because, hmm... it´s a POLKA. It contains melodies by Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek), John Williams (Star Wars) and Alexander Courage (Star Trek). Feel free to download the file from http://www.rainermusikanten.at/mp3/music.html by right-clicking on the text. The title is (in German) "Krieg der Polkasterne" (from the german "Star Wars"-title "Krieg der Sterne"). (Mp3, Size: about 4 MByte) I would be interessted in any comments on that piece. Yours, Alawill
  9. As I´m new to that DVD/isolated score-stuff: why do you think Williams will not let it happen? Is it his decision? And if so, why do you think he won´t let it happen? Best regards, Alawill
  10. ... for all those tips. I will start hunting for records soon... I´m very curious about the music. Best, Alawill
  11. I often hear that Williams is influenced and/or inspired by compositions of Edward Elgar. As I don´t know much of Elgar´s music, I wonder if anyone could give me a hint, which recordings I might should hear to? Thanks, and all the best, Alawill
  12. Hey to all, thanks for your interessting posts and comments. Maybe I will put together a list of all the entries... It´s a shame, but most of the soundtracks I don´t have in my collection. I think I have to visit amazon today... All the best, Alawill
  13. What do you think? Will Han Solo and the Wookie appear in Epsiode III? Will one get to know how they get to know? And how Han Solo won the Millenium Falcon (I read, that he won it...) This would be an interesting story, but I think, it will not suite to the rest of the storyline... But, on the other hand, why shouldn´t Anakin/Vader meet the young Han Solo? This would be funny in a way... Or, Han´s father meets Amidalia, and he´s to be the real father of the twins... Getting weired... What do you think?
  14. hey, I can live with Robert DeNiro, but James Horner??!?...
  15. What do you want the Epsiode II DVD to contain? - the movie (of course) with - an isolated score on the extra cd: - stuff à la "making of..." - a big interview with John Williams - the music video - shootings from the recording session in london - a life recording of a concert featuring the Episode II music - and for the freaks: a software-tool, with that you can copy, paste and edit music from the movie and create your own Episode II (with music from Hook, Superman, The Unfinished Journey and Home alone II) I know, thats too optimistic... but anyway... Any other suggestions?
  16. I wonder what you all think which scores a Top-Ten List of Soundtracks one must have should contain? Any suggestions?
