Yeah but depending on who's hosting and who's drunk, they're better than the Oscars

Yeah sometimes it's better and I thought Ricky Gervais was funny when he was the host, but last year was beyond terrible , with the host going on and on about racism in award shows and basing his entire opening monologue on his race and sexual orientation.

I didn't remember Williams was usually snubbed at the Golden Globes so I guess his Oscar nom chances aren't diminished

At least this year's host is funnier than last year.

Oppenheimer swept all the major awards for Golden Globe

  2. Alright I see Williams isn't nominated for the Golden Globes tonight (just remembered they were on but less incentive to watch now) so seems less chance for Oscar nom.

This year I hope Oppenheimer wins Best Picture and restore my faith in the Oscars that a movie that doesn't push "The Message" can still win Best Picture.

  3. Joel Mc Neely is the most obvious but it's almost a copy of Williams tracks sometimes

I always thought the End Titles of Airport 77 sound like exactly like 70's Williams Disaster mode  and could even mistake it for him. Sounds like the End titles to Poseidon  Adventure, Earthquake or Towering Inferno

  4. A crazy audiophile friend of mine (he has at least a hundred thousand dollars of audio equipment in his house including a pair of STAX SR-009s electrostatic headphones powered by a Blue Hawaii tube amp) game me these IEM earphones saying they were pretty good. 5 drivers per ear (5 driver IEMS used to cost 1000$ a few years ago). Oh and they are good, possibly the best IEM's I ever tried.  This replaces some Fiio's I was using for the last few years.

    KZ ZS 10Pro X , about 50$usd

It’s as though all those decades of “serious” critics and institutions deriding JW’s music (and film music in general) as a lesser form of art have completely washed away. That they can all see him now, and the ways in which his music has transcended the films they were written for… Not that those views have ever really mattered much to those of us who’ve always loved his music, but there’s a certain satisfaction in knowing that he is now universally considered to be an artist of the highest calibre and integrity by those same institutions. It’s sublime.

Yeah that was always my wish too and I'm happy prestigious orchestras want to perform his music as equal to classical music. And if the Mutter arrangements help in that way it's positive.

  6. And  I still think Williams is at the top of his game at 91.

Galaxy's Edge Symphonic Suite, Theme from Obi-Wan, The Rise of Skywalker (concert version), The Adventures of Han, Helena's Theme, The Rebellion is Reborn, Of Grits and Glory,  Fanfare for Vienna Ball (unreleased) . All recent pieces that are among his very best even compared to his 70's-80's period.

But in an alternate universe I wish all those new Ann Sophie Mutter arrangements he did were written for full orchestra without Ann Sophie Mutter violin solos giving us a bunch of brand new full concert versions of his film themes. Mutter arrangements feel like an offshoot of his Cinema Serenade album.

  7. I enjoy the rest of it so don't say I shouldn't listen to it if I don't like he cadenza section. I know you take it very personal when other people criticize Williams more abstract concert works but I think my point is valid.

And I don't plan to edit it out, that was partly a joke. I never edit out music from Williams pieces even if I don't like a section.

I have a lot of respect for you as a Williams fan but keep in mind I've been listening to Williams music as long as you do and he's also my favorite composer ever.
