MrScratch reacted to Muad'Dib in John Williams to score Spielberg's next?
Agreed. At most we'll have a Solo-like situation.
-
MrScratch got a reaction from Will in John Williams to score Spielberg's next?
Williams will score this movie, and I hope he does. Since this is so personal to Spielberg, we might get a really special score from JW.

MrScratch got a reaction from Jay in John Williams albums by Philips Records (Boston Pops)
I’ve had “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” since the 90s, I had joined the BMG Classical Music club and picked it up through them as one of the “free” selections.
I’m not into Christmas music, I only got this to add to the Williams collection. The few times I have ever played this has been as background music while decorating or hosting a holiday dinner party. Not something I’ve ever listened very closely to. But I’m with Jay, I far prefer the instrumental tracks to the ones with chorus.
The “Joy To The World” CD is much better.

MrScratch got a reaction from TownerFan in Announcing 'SCORE MASTERS: Celebrating John Williams & Jerry Goldsmith' (Online Event premiering Feb 8, 2021)
Finally got around to checking this out today, it was wonderful. Love this picture of Williams, never seen it before.

MrScratch got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in Announcing 'SCORE MASTERS: Celebrating John Williams & Jerry Goldsmith' (Online Event premiering Feb 8, 2021)
I sometimes forget just how early Williams’ film career started, while the Golden Age composers were still around and working. So cool to think about Alfred Newman hanging out and chatting with young Johnny.

MrScratch got a reaction from Bespin in John Williams albums by Philips Records (Boston Pops)
A similar thread on the Kunzel collection would be most welcome. I heard many a score for the first time through those CDs.

Add Jaws and this is basically a John Williams greatest hits album at the time of its release. It is a shame Williams himself never recorded the full Star Wars suite.
You are making me want to acquire the last few Boston Pops albums that I’m missing. I’m currently acquiring the remaining Kunzel albums that I didn’t have. I used to only buy them if there was a Williams piece on them.

Damn, I was hoping they'd have revealed their planned titles.

MrScratch reacted to E-Wan in Eiger Sanction: Due for a Remaster?
Kyle Eastwood (Clint Eastwood's son) plays the jazz arrangement of music from The Eiger Sanction
The track is from Kyle Eastwood's album Cinematic

MrScratch got a reaction from Jurassic Shark in Looking back now, which John Williams boxset did you get more enjoyment out of? Jurassic Park or Harry Potter?
HP, easily. Was never big on TLW, and still am not. JP is my favorite individual score from either box set, but there wasn’t much missing from JP to begin with. Just getting the full children’s HP suite from SS alone makes that set more enjoyable to me.
-
MrScratch reacted to King Mark in Looking back now, which John Williams boxset did you get more enjoyment out of? Jurassic Park or Harry Potter?
Harry Potter by far. It's the best expanded score release ever. The standard by which Star Wars and Indiana Jones should be released
There wasn't that much unreleased music on JP (most of it was released on the anniversary release earlier) and Lost World is far from a favorite of mine...it's a bit in a category like Minority Report and WotW where I find the action music too loud, frenetic and directionless

MrScratch reacted to SyncMan in Baltimore Symphony Orchestra talks about JW's L2P concerts
This aired on the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Facebook page yesterday.
https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v=561441188134842&ref=watch_permalink
Associate Conductor Nicholas Hersh, Principal Librarian Michael Ferraguto, and moderator Allison Burr-Livingstone talk about the preparation of the BSO's 'Movie with Live Orchestra' concerts. The L2P concert program of SW:TESB is discussed in great detail as the orchestra was scheduled to do this concert this weekend, but was cancelled because of the COVID-19 lockdown.
They also talk about Williams' 2018 appearance with the BSO and his 'first pitch' at Camden Yards the week before the concert.
The rest is just fanboy talk.
Enjoy
P.S. 'hope you're reading this @MrScratch

MrScratch got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in What's so great about Jerry Goldsmith?
Buying them won't but listening to them might. I'm always seeking to expand my music knowledge and taste.
I do have that theme on a Kunzel recordings!
-
MrScratch got a reaction from Bellosh in Your favorite Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade cue
This track is a perfect little mini score unto itself.
-
MrScratch reacted to Josh500 in Did you get the Disaster Movie Soundtrack Collection from John Williams?
Now that's something I personally would never do. I might consider not buying a John Williams expanded release that I know I'll hardly ever listen to, but I'd never sell a John Williams CD that I already own. I've never done that in 25 years of collecting JW!

MrScratch reacted to Josh500 in Your favorite Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade cue
Every single cue is so good, it's hard to choose one. However, if I had to, it's probably gonna be "Indy's Very First Adventure."
When that comes on, you know the adventure is just about to start....
