  1. Gremlins, Gremlins 2, and Twilight Zone: The Movie were home video perennials at my house when I was too young to watch any of them, so I’m certain that was my first exposure to Goldsmith. It’s about the extent of my journey though. I blind-bought tons of Goldsmith scores in my carefree teenage years and maybe only really liked two or three of them, so now I don’t bother.
  2. There’s “extra” music from Batman that is fun, but really it doesn’t hold up in complete form nearly as much as on OST. Returns is the opposite for me.
  3. Artists get AI songs taken down all the time. It’s a TOS issue, which is a short term fix but it’s a fix. The law at its speed will never catch up to advances in this technology.
  4. Stu coming back has been rumored since the first sequel was announced in 1996. Lillard is terrific in everything, so at this point why not
  5. This is the best thing he’s written in twenty years!
  6. I was born in 1984, and I wore our tape of TOD out before I was six! But I’d say she’s mature for her age in that sense. I read her scary books that are a bit above her age, we show her some PG-13 movies. We’re more hesitant with realistic violence and guns than we are with cartoonish stuff like what happens in the temple.
  7. Buying a few new jewel cases is a lot cheaper than paying overseas shipping!
  8. Eight years old - just about the right maturity to understand them. Whenever we get to DoD, it’ll be the first time for all of us.
  9. YOU ARE WITNESSING A FRONT THREE-QUARTER VIEW OF TWO ADULTS SHARING A TENDER MOMENT.
  10. I didn’t know who he was at the time, but his big Media Ventures Action Themes to Face/Off grabbed me in the theater.
  11. We showed this to my kid last week, and she was not traumatized by the sacrifice scene. She seemed ready to roll right into Last Crusade. Definitely a bigger hit with her than Raiders. I hadn’t seen it in a few decades but loved it.
  12. Yeah, I’ve never been able to get into his X-men score either. The Powell scores I really dig are Chicken Run, Shrek, Evolution, and Solo. There are some real high points in Horton but overall it doesn’t cling together for me as a listen. Everything else is pretty-good, except his Bourne scores didn’t do anything for me.
  13. I don’t think there’s an understanding there of what a “trigger warning” is - it’s not a warning for a rando moviegoer to not watch due to the content (that’s what the MPA rating system is for, which she is not critiquing). It’s a no-effort courtesy to people who are legitimately impacted by whatever is being warned about (and the rest of us can blissfully ignore).
  14. They kind of had to shell out for Campbell after sloughing off all of their main “young” cast recently. I’m glad they’re paying her what she’s worth.
  15. The LLL! I do have the digital score release, which is a shorter version of the LLL program, but still! I thought I had gotten a “promo” of the OST song album at an okay price on eBay not too long ago but it turned out to be a boot, some slapped together CDR. Very disappointing.
  16. https://fsmcds.com He’s been having occasional estate sales and whole-collection sales over the last year or two (managed via spreadsheets!) but he’s formalized it into a business now.
  17. Spaceballs! Maybe my last true holy grail. The darned thing was discounted pretty heavily before it left, but I just didn’t bite. Two that would have been on my list until yesterday: The Reivers OST and FSM Paper Chase/Conrack, just rec’d through Lukas’s latest sale at what I’d call reasonable prices. As far as I’m concerned, my Williams collection is acceptable as of yesterday - I don’t have things like Lost in Space or Time Tunnel expansions, but I know enough from the older CDs that they’re not for me.
  18. You can watch a movie in a vacuum without its belated sequel and still find it satisfying! That’s probably how it will be for me with Gladiator, Ridley Scott’s only good movie.
  19. Peach looks like a game that’s going to be a lot of fun for my kid, but not with a lot of crossover for the adults.
  20. Yeah, she’s been on Giacchino’s team since well before Inside Out: Part One. She’ll be an acceptable continuation of Giacchino’s soundscape for the original movie. She wrote the music for the recent Up shorts series, if you want an idea - she’s able to adapt Gia’s stuff and ape his sound.
  21. “You remind me today of a small Mexican chi-wow-wow.”
