Meanwhile, we're all growing old waiting for this score to be given a right royal treatment it deserves.
-
Was he ever hilarious? I've not seen one of his films because he has absolutely no character appeal. One actor I would like to see more of is Michael Rooker from Days of Thunder and Cliffhanger. He's only a supporting actor but all the films I have seen with him in it he has really turned in a solid performance.
-
Damn. You remember that? But I don't think the northern hemispherians would know what we are on about.

Don S Davis, best known for his role as General Hammond in Stargate SG1 and Capt William ("Ahab") Scully, father of Dana Scully from the X-Files, died on 29 June after a heart attack. I was surprised by this because he died almost 2 weeks ago and I haven't seen anything here about it. I always liked him as an actor.

If any one can place Dixie in the film let me know. I have been trying for ages to work this out. Also, I made a new track by editing "Soldier's Irony". It is the scene where General Lee receives the messages that the Federal army is falling back through the town. These are the tracks I have made thus far: above mentioned track; March to Mortality (film version); General Lees Ride; and Finale and End Credits (film version).

There are quite a few people here who make there own edits of either tracks or entire scores. Even though I don't do much of this myself my best edit is the film version of March to Mortality from Gettysburg. So what is your best effort yet?
-
The recent Gettysburg thread was closed because it was about the chronological order of the 2 disc Commemmorative Edition which is already here http://jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5544&st=240.

Ah, it's good to see there are others who enjoy this score as this is one of my favourites

Theme From Close Encounters

Let's quote Ripley from Aliens this time "Did I.Q.'s drop suddenly while I was away?" Who says I was talking about the 5 note motif? I knew exactly what he was dribbling on about. -

To quote Robert Shaw's "Quint" from Jaws: "Jesus H. Christ!" It's like four f#*king seconds long which would be about two/four friggin notes. -
I don't have any of Alexander Courages scores so his achievements are highly under-appreciated by me but I do know that he was a strong musical influence within the film score community. The most obvious of his work I know is his famous Star Trek theme although it might seem that he will be forever known as the man who wrote the Star Trek music. To know that he has been lost to this mortal world is extremely saddening and the void that his loss creates would be equal as when the world recently lost Jerry Goldsmith or Basil Poledouris. My thoughts and sympathies go out to his Family, his Friends and all the fans world wide.

It been stated on Soudtrack Collector forums that Howard Shore WILL score The Hobbitt. Is this good news or not?
-
BS? Whattaya talking about, this here's a BS free zone! I really wish that were the case.
-
Apologies if everyine knows this already. I don't get on here that often anymore and as such I miss a lot of things (which is also good because I miss a lot of the BS as well). Amazon have the score available for pre-order for $9.99.

This is really sad news. The last, truly great actor gone. But he will live on in many of the great films he starred in. Almost at the moment He died, I heard Him say, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." Ben Hur - my favourite CH film. Already missed.
-
I'll keep my fingers crossed for Conti's The Right Stuff
-
Can anyone tell me what tracks were written by other composers that were used in this score please?
-
Frankly my dear I don't give a DAMN! lol
-
I voted Gollums Song but I do like them all though.

John Williams is among the Top 100 living geniuses

Oh please, don't put him on a pedastal by saying stuff like that! -
I like the East German National Anthem Hail, hail East Germany Land of fruit and grape Land where you'll regret If you try to escape No matter if you tunnel under or take a running jump at the wall Forget it, the guards will kill you, if the electrified fence doesn't first. From Top Secret of course

Star Wars - The Tantive IV being chased by the Star Destroyer over the camera in the opening scene. Ben Hur - The Chariot Race (nuff said) Jaws - "You're gonna need a bigger boat" Superman - When Jor-El takes Clark on his journey through space before returning him and says "They can be a great people, Kal-El if they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all - their capacity for good - I have sent them you...my only son" and we see Superman for the first time.

Only three movies spring to mind for me. They are something from Gone With The Wind, King Kong and The Wizard of Oz. Of those three I would use something from Gone With The Wind.
-
You've just highlighted the point.

Is that word really necessary on a public forum like this?
