  1. What's the best price everyone has seen? B&N have it for $52.48 ($47.23 for members) but is there any cheaper? I'm wanting to pre-order this baby and I'm a real bargain hunter (read tightass).
  2. Is it the music that is sad or the fact that England got knocked out of the World Cup?
  3. Give me Gettysburg anyday THEN Glory. I really enjoyed Gettysburg that I had to make a couple of additional cues bevcause they weren't included into the 2CD release. Of course I also ripped Glory from the DVD too.
  4. I have just managed to get these recently The Departed X-Men Mr Holland's Opus Mouse Hunt
  5. In keeping with the Most Beautiful and the Most Patriotic music threads we now can tell everyone what we think is the saddest piece of film music you have ever heard/listened to. Come on all...dish em up. I'm sure E.T. is in there somewhere and maybe even Gandalf's Death from Khazad-Dum in the FOTR.
  6. Ron Goodwin's is just tear inducing stuff if you're British So is the Colonel Bogey March (and the reason it was whistled in bridge on the river kwai) You mentioned Ron Goodwin. You rock!Listen to Battle of Britain if you want some stirring patriotic music especially the Ace High March (main titles). I'm surprised the gun loving society of fanatical freedom lovers (ie Americans) haven't shouted out Goldsmith's version of TSSB from Poltergiest yet.
  7. Which one are you referring to? The extended 5min 28sec version on the 1995 DCC release or the version that runs for about 11mins (this track includes Discovery of The Ark) on the 2LP DCC release? BTW, almost everyone that has ROTLA will have all versions of this track.
  8. About the 14th Nov 07 a new 3 disc DVD release of Close Encounters will hit the shelves here in Australia that will feature ALL three versions of the film. They being the original theatrical release (1977), The Special Edition (1980) and the Directors Cut (1998). See here for more ht tp://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/795595
  9. Basically, this is just your own opinions on what you consider to be the most beautiful piece of music you've ever heard. I have three personal favourites: Any score track from Castaway, the finale of Close Encounters as well as Father Kolbe's Preaching from The Truman Show all rank up there.
  10. Hi Pixie You do know that Waltzing Matilda is NOT Australia's National Anthem don't you? Australia's NA is actually ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR and it is best sung by a woman called Julie Anthony. Waltzing Matilda is a "bush ballard" that many people would like to see become our National Anthem. Here are the lyrics to both. ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR Australians all let us rejoice, For we are young and free; We've golden soil and wealth for toil, Our home is girt by sea; Our land abounds in Nature's gifts Of beauty rich and rare; In history's page, let every stage Advance Australia fair! In joyful strains then let us sing, "Advance Australia fair!" When gallant Cook from Albion sail'd, To trace wide oceans o'er, True British courage bore him on, Till he landed on our shore. Then here he raised Old England's flag, The standard of the brave; With all her faults we love her still, "Brittannia rules the wave!" In joyful strains then let us sing "Advance Australia fair!" Beneath our radiant southern Cross, We'll toil with hearts and hands; To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands; For those who've come across the seas We've boundless plains to share; With courage let us all combine To advance Australia fair. In joyful strains then let us sing "Advance Australia fair!" While other nations of the globe Behold us from afar, We'll rise to high renown and shine Like our glorious southern star; From England, Scotia, Erin's Isle, Who come our lot to share, Let all combine with heart and hand To advance Australia fair! In joyful strains then let us sing "Advance Australia fair!" Shou'd foreign foe e'er sight our coast, Or dare a foot to land, We'll rouse to arms like sires of yore To guard our native strand; Brittannia then shall surely know, Beyond wide ocean's roll, Her sons in fair Australia's land Still keep a British soul. In joyful strains the let us sing "Advance Australia fair!" WALTZING MATILDA Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a coolibah tree, And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled "Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?" Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me And he sang as he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled "Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?" Down came a jumbuck to drink from the billabong, Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee, And he sang as he stowed that jumbuck in his tucker bag, "You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me". Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda "You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me" And he sang as he stowed that jumbuck in his tucker bag, "You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me". Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred, Down came the troopers, one, two, three, "Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?" "You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me". Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda "You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me" "Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?", "You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me". Up jumped the swagman, leapt into the billabong, "You'll never catch me alive," said he, And his ghost may be heard as you pass by the billabong, "Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?" Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me And his ghost may be heard as you pass by the billabong, "Who'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me?"
  11. The "Yes Giorgio" star died earlier today aged 71. The rotund, black-bearded tenor, regarded by many as the greatest of his generation, shot to fame with a stand-in appearance at London's Covent Garden in 1963 and soon had critics gushing about his voluminous voice. R.I.P.
  12. Well if you take into account just how long it took to get LOTR from script to screen then we would be looking around.......hmm....add this......and carry the Y..... we might see something starting to happen around 2015.
  13. Ok. Alien is a classic but how can anyone bag out ALIENS. That's a kick ass film and a worthy sequel.
  14. Thats the version I was looking for. Thanks muchly. Don't suppose anyone knows the arrangement? Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I have been trying to upload what I had to megaupload but couldn't do it and when I do get it done I am too late.
  15. In the mid 90's British Airways had a couple of TV advertisements featuring hundreds of people in either red, white or blue forming a face. Does anyone know the music from this ad at all? I have loved this music for a long time and I managed to locate an ad made for the christmas season but I don't know the name of the music, who did it and where I can get it from. Any help would be appreciated.
  16. I agree entirely. Perhaps this also shows that he himself had a bigger impact on the scripts than what you might think. The plot was kind of resolved in season 7 but with the two additional seasons they had to come up with something else, which was really not so good, as Steef notes. I also hope people are still interested. I'd rather have a series of theatrical X-Files films than another boring Star Trek movie. I bought the Seasons 1-7 on DVD years ago and watched every episode.....up to where Mulder finds his sister then never watched an episode after that let alone bothering to get Seasons 8 and 9. Why? Because Mulder wasn't in it and as far as I was concerned the series should have ended with him finding his sister. But I'd love to see Mulder and Scully back for another movie.
  17. Really? While it had its lulls, I thought a lot of it was quite well done. Oh well, that's not what this thread is about. And since this thread is not about it... I dont find the sense of 'bashing' it, if you only want track times... Who says I was "bashing it"? If I said the score was a piece of shit I would be "bashing it" but I didn't! All I was saying was that I find it hard to recognise the cues which means I cannot place them when I listen to it, so by having the track times matched to the track titles it will help me to place them which means I may be able to enjoy it more. Thanks Damo. You're a legend, mate. Cheers
  18. Oh I just couldn't sleep so I thought I might get up out of bed. So what kind of help do you need? Just the timing of each of the tracks? Yup, just the times for each track.
  19. Sure is Damo. (BTW what are you doing up at this hour?)
  20. Personally the ROTS score is far less memorable for me than any of the previous SW scores. In saying that I have had trouble matching the below track titles to most of the 32 unnamed tracks I downloaded from megauplaod. Can anyone assist in providing track times for this list? Thanks 1-Battle over coruscant (track time not needed) 2-Elevator scene extended 3-Dooku's entrance 4-Grevious and the Droids (OST) 5-Anothe happy landing 6-Revisiting Padme 7-Anakin's Dream (OST) 8-Council meeeting 9-Opera scene 10-Goodbye old friend 11-I promise you 12-Going to utapau 13-Confronting grevious 14-General Grevious (OST) 15-Palpatines seduction 16-Dialogue with Mace 17-Padme's Rumination 18-I am the Senate 19-Palpatine instructs anakin 20-Lament 21-Bail's Escape... 22-Enter lord Vader (OST) 23-Anakin's Dark Deeds extended 24-A Moody Trip 25-Padme goes to Mustafar 26-Anakin vs Obi Wan (OST) 27-Boys Continue 28-Battle of the Heroes (OST) 29-The immolation scene (OST) 30-Anakin crawling 31-Birth of the Twins and Padme's Destiny(OST) 32-Finale and end Credits (track time not needed)
  21. BTW, with what I said above I am serious. I have only listened to it once, probably not even completely. I can't sell it on Ebay here in Australia because the soundtrack market here is very small and I wouldn't be able to break even so I'd rather trade it for something decent.
  22. Bugger. I can't afford to order it but I like the cover. I'll trade an original Varese Ghostbusters for it though.
  23. Please don't misunderstand me, I have nothing against Australia...as such. It's just that if it were swallowed up by the sea and dissapeared forever, nothing would really change. Not quite true. The Northern hemisphere is soooo top heavy that if Australia disappeared the world would be turned upside down. So really, Australia is needed to keep everything else in check. So we'll still be here in everyone's shadow. But we'll be here...watching...waiting...til the time is right and then we'll make our move. B)
  24. Steef, I do hope you are joking. Please tell me you are because I will start ranting and raving so LOUD before throwing a nuclear tipped boomerang in your direction. If you are not joking then read your @#$*%! history. Australians are always there doing things. We just don't stand on soap boxes and make a song and dance about the things we do (unlike the yanks). If we are crude then it is because we won't put up with shit (er...I mean @#$!). But, as before, if your joking then..hey.. no problems. B)
