  1. There once was a time when England was the dominant force in Cricket, Greg. Once, but looooooooooooooooooooooooooong ago. Be grateful that you have a team. Look at the poor yanks. They don't have a team for us to flog, which is a damn shame as I love watching the Colonialists get a hiding.
  2. It's Damo. Not Dano. Yeah sure go for it Bondian. Beats being called "Draino" though.
  3. Just can't trust us "convicts" can you, Greg. "bump" spacecamp
  4. Scientists in Australia who have been working over the last couple of years to bring dinosaurs back to life have finally succeeded and their work will be proudly on display tonight. Is this a joke? Definitely not! However, it is not called Jurassic Park but it bloody well should have been. Okay, now for the full details. Tonight, 10 Jan 07, is the WORLD PREMIER event based on the award winning BBC television series. Called Walking With Dinosaurs - The Live Experience it is being held at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The scientists, working with engineers (or course), have made 15 full life size animatronic dinosaurs, including a T-Rex. In this spectacular 12 million dollar production the dinosaurs are free standing and ACTUALLY walk around the arena floor (although they do sit on movable rigs with operators lying in them). I have just seen the T-Rex on the news and not only is it fantastic, it's bloody huge. And the best thing about all this ...... THE WHOLE PRODUCTION IS COMPLETELY AUSTRALIAN (chants "aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi") The family and I will be seeing this on 20 Jan 07 as bit of a school holiday treat. It shows in Sydney for 2 weeks before moving on to other captial cities in Australia and will definitely be making it's way overseas before the end of the year. check out this site http://www.dinosaurlive.com/ While Steven Spielberg had a full size T-Rex in Jurassic Park it was stationary and it sat on a hydrualic rig where its legs should have been. These beasties have legs and move in a way that the JP dinos couldn't. If only Steven had this technology available at the time. This production is ground breaking and the first in the world to feature full animatronic creatures in a "live" action situation. It will not be long before this technology will pass over to the film industry and you will see dinosaurs walk on screen without the aid of computer animation. If it ever comes to a city near you I would recommend you go and see this.
  5. Certainly the highlight of the whole movie is the restoration of Brando as Jor-El. But I liked the Lois in Paris scenes as it gave Supes a minor rescue before getting stuck into the job of dealing with the Krypton 3. Obviously this wouldn't work in the Donner Cut but the scene looked much better when Superman flies past the Concorde on his way to Paris (seen only in the International Cut though)
  6. Now that Donners version of Superman II is available how does it compare with Lester's version? I think I am leaning more towards the Lester version for some unknown reason. I also recall seeing the International cut of Superman II many many years ago and it was good to see some of the scenes in this version in the Donner version.
  7. Unfortunately, politics is one of the few subjects on a discussion forum (like this one) that can incite rage by those taking part. As such for a topic that has nothing to do with politics, other than the fact that Gerald Ford was a US politican, it should be avoided like the plague. This topic, like every other topic of this nature, was meant for offering condolances to his family regardless of his politics.
  8. Merry christmas all. Have a happy holiday. Be safe and those who are old enough here, don't drink too much" c yall in the new year.
  9. I can't wait for xmas either. My wife has got me the 13 disc box set.
  10. Australian actress Belinda Emmett also passed away today from breast cancer. She was 32. OMFG!!!!!! Belinda Emmett. And Jack Palance as well. On top of Basil Poledouris. This is an extremely sad week. (For all the uninitiated Belinda Emmett was an Australian TV actress who was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago but had since been diagnosed with bone cancer. She was recently married to Australian night time TV host Rove McManus)
  11. Thanks Jim. I thought it referred to our member known as "Tommy Johnson". Sad all the same though I didn't known who he was until now.
  12. What's this thread all about? I clicked on the link and nothing happened except for the sign up page. If you have the information why not just post it here.
  13. Has anyone heard "Here's To The Heros" by The Ten Tenors? When I heard this on the commercial promoting their album my first thought was they had ripped of Dances With Wolves. Whats the take on this by everyone?
  14. The Battle of Britain (1969). Surely THE best aviation film ever made. And don't call me Shirley!
  15. The King is gone but the "Lion" will still roar on the Mountain in October.
  16. No. You can only celebrate being 30 once.
  17. Damn straight we are. Colin Thiele? When? How?
  18. Peter Brock, the Australian motor racing legend was killed today when his racing car slammed into a tree in Western Australia after he lost control on a wet road. He was 61. He was the record nine times champion of the Bathurst 1000 and as such he was called The King Of The Mountain. He was also an advocate for safe driving. He was a true legend and he will be missed. Two champion aussie blokes in 5 days. This is too tragic.   Goodbye Steve, Goodbye Peter. Long live the "King of the Mountain" Long live Holden 05.
  19. This is probably not being reported worldwide but is getting a lot of coverage in Australia. A crusty old Australian feminist by the name of Germaine Greer who now resides in the UK is causing a storm of controversy by saying crap like how he had it coming to him for years and calling everyone who mourns his loss idiots. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=127478 or go to ninemsn.com.au To quote a line from The Emperor's New Groove "Living proof that dinosaurs once roamed the earth" I can tell you now no one will mourn this old cows demise. The sooner the better too.
  20. JONATHON!!!! R.I.P. Glen. The track "Death of Jonathon Kent" seems so appropriate now.
  21. Prison - The Shawshank Redemption, The Great Escape. Sub movie - Crimson Tide, Das Boot, K-19, U-571 (yeah I know it's a bullshit story but it's a good bullshit story), Down Periscope (oh I hope they have one in Turquoise!)
  22. There is nothing from "More Music" in the film. You need to get the 2 disc version of the soundtrack if you want any extra music.
