Sure. Raiders is a good score and you won't hear an argument from me but in the opinion of the majority of JWNet members, from previous posts/polls, is that both Superman and Empire is JW's best.

Several posts/polls have shown that the majority of the members here believe that the best scores by John Williams are both Superman and The Empire Strikes Back. Ok. So what is the best scores from the other major composers? James Horner, Michael Kamen, James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, Basil Poledouris, Danny Elfman, David Arnold and the late, great Jerry Goldsmith and Elmer Bernstein. James Horner - Titanic Alan Silvestri - Back To The Future David Arnold - Independence Day Hans Zimmer - Crimson Tide Basil Poledouris - Conan The Barbarian Danny Elfman - Batman Feel free to add others that I have missed.

Well that answer seems to kill all the arguments, doesn't it? We're going to have to find something else to discuss/agrue about now.

Tobe Hooper was not involved with the post-production on Poltergeist. That was entirely Spielberg. Some have even speculated that Hooper was only on the set to officially call "action" and "cut". Neil As far as I am led to believe it is the director of the film who chooses the composer to score his film Dean, who is waiting for someone to say it is not Hooper's film

This one doesn't count though as this was only produced by Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Cahinsaw Massacre). Spielberg was unable to direct Poltergeist due to his commitments with E.T. but whenever he directs a film personally it's JW for the score. As far as the possible conflict with WOTW and ROTS is this not similar to Star Wars and Close Encounters of The Third Kind? Both of which came out within a short space of time in 1977! I think Spielberg has enough say in Hollywood to convince the studio suits to hold back on a films release (at least for a few weeks) until his composer is available.

Option 1. This is not an option but a must. I believe Lucas would never allow an isolated score for any of his movies on DVD.

so what is on your xmas list this year? I'd like to get complete Back To The Future, Temple of Doom and Last Crusade scores. Yeah, sure! LOL

How true this statement rings. I saw the movie once and that was probably too many times. I don't understand what all the hype was about and as far as I'm concerned thought it was rather mediocre.....but that is my opinion. It would be good to see if Yared's score would have made a difference though. Maybe they should release the film again but with the option of having Yared's score as an alternative. They did it with the recent Battle of Britain DVD and Sir William Walton's rejected score so the precedence has been set.

You have all set me straight now. My thanks to you all. It is the same as what I have as well, save for a few seconds on the times of each track. I just had to be sure. That's all. BTW it's fantastic music too, far too good to have been rejected for what ever petty reason why it was.

Does any one have a track list for Yared's Troy. I have seen a scan of the rear cover and compared the CD (that I have at least) the times are all out of sequence. Either the times are out of sequence with the tracks on the scan or the tracks on the CD I have on the CD are out of sequence. :? I'm so confused :?

It was Star Wars for me. I wasn't into any sort of music waaaaaay back then in 1980 and Star Wars was the very first score I set out to find. But it wasn't until after I had bought The Empire Strikes Back and then Raiders Of The Lost Ark that I was hooked.
