Wow. Doesn't that comes from a long since forgotten era of short "thank you's".
That was awesome. We need a new poll. Who would you rather kiss: JW or Sandy from Grease?
Um....sandy. But only as long as she is wearing that slutty black outfit. mmmmmmmm

I've decided to mix the score track Tension: The Kiss with Earth Angel as an alternative and have just found that the last part of that track (Tension) is already mixed in with Earth Angel already. Both tracks as heard in the film are shorter than the CD tracks (Earth Angel in 3 minutes long) and only runs for about 2 minutes on screen but with the extended Tension track my mix comes out to about 2 mins 22 secs. I can live with this.
The whole sequence, as done by me, goes:
Earth Angel 0:00-0:45 (complete fade out) 0:00-0:45
Tension: The Kiss 0:00-0:55 (complete fade out) 0:45-1:40
Earth Angel 2:20-end (fade in from 2:10 overlaying from 1:30) 1:40-2:22
(Timings are all approximates only)
Many people may not like this but I think it works out quite well.

That's great list, Turbo. You're a deadset champion.
-
Does anyone have the combined order for the songs and score of Shrek (the first movie)?
-
I think this reboot is going to kill the Spiderman franchise unless they completely re-invent Spiderman. Even then I don't think it will be anywhere near as good as the first or second film but the third was just utter tripe.

The 1984, Giorgio Moroder version of Metropolis.

It's arrived!

As for the un-used "Logo" cue, I think the film would have worked better with this left in. It's only a very short piece, and the ticking clocks still could've been used once "Logo" had finished.

Finally, mine has arrived as well.....only problem now is I am not at home to listen to it and enjoy it. Damn it. There's always some thing.
Oh well, at least I'll have something at home waiting for me when I finish work tonight...apart from my very beautiful wife that is.
I sympathise, but I would always put my wife before any music!

Anyway, when you do get 'round to listening to it, you'll love it.

Not in this case. The wife will have to wait as she'll be asleep when I get home at near 1am. When I get home I'll be having something to eat and listening to it. I haven't heard it yet and I love it already.

I've had the BTTF theme going through my head for the entire day. Such a wonderfully versatile motif.
Suffice it to say I think this is a great release, and the sound quality is fantastic.
I'll probably agree when I eventually get mine!
At least I'm not the only one still waiting. My copy was shipped out on December 23. I reckon I should have it by the end of the 1st week in January.
-
Got it last night! What can I say that hasn't already been said? Great score, great presentation, love the work by our old friend Michael Matessino.
There's really nothing like holding in your hands a score that you've been searching for, waiting for, trying to acquire by any means possible, for the past twenty years. . . .

I wouldn't know. I'm still waiting for my friggin copy. They say it has been shipped.

Another actor who also died recently (3 Dec 09) was Richard Todd who played Wing Commander Guy Gibson, VC, DSO, DFC in The Dam Busters. Tragically 2 of his 3 sons both committed suicide involving firearms in 1997 and 2005.
R.I.P.
Will throw on The Dam Busters when I can in memory.

Sad news
Gene Barry, who played Dr Clayton Forrester in the 1953 film The War Of The Worlds and who also cameoed in Steven Spielberg's War of The Worlds, died on Wednesday age 90.
R.I.P.

Well, SAE have just put on their website that they will be receiving more Back To The Future pressings by the end of December which basically told me I won't be seeing mine until sometime in the new year. Crap.

And what would everyone do if Zimmer wrote the next Harry Potter music?
-
Okay. I've finally got Titanic how I want it.
1. Prologue 1:15 (edited from A Life so Changed)
2. Distant Memories 2:23
3. Southampton 4:01
4. Leaving Port 3:26
5. Take Her to Sea, Mr Murdoch 4:31
6. An Irish Party In Third Class 3:49
7. Rose 2:52
8. The Portrait 4:43
9. Hard to Starboard 6:52
10. Alexanders Ragtime Band 2:30
11. A Building Panic 3:04 (shortened)
12. Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave 3:56
13. Nearer My God To Thee 2:49
14. The Sinking, Astor's Death, Death of Titanic 13:42 (includes insert from A Building Panic)
15. A Promise Kept (film version) 5:47 (edited to include A Life So Changed from (approximately) 0:00 to 1:05)
16. Waiting for Absolution 1:10 (edited from A Life so Changed)
17. A Life So Changed and Back To Titanic (edited from A Life So Changed/Rose and Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave)
18. My Heart Will Go On
I just had to include Astor's Death into The Sinking and Death of Titanic because it is a key moment in the film as well as the score and it also allows for the merging of the two previously seperate tracks into one elongated track. I have also pretty much discarded any attempt at trying to edit the End Titles and may just go for a straight DVD rip.
The hardest thing was to try and get a good transition between the tracks for Track 17 - Back To Titanic. The transition from A Life So Changed to Rose is only tempered by the fact that the album version of Rose has an alternate intro to what is heard in the film. The transition from Rose to Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave tested my patience more than once. In the end I got a meagre, although acceptable, version of the last track heard in the film and until the is released as heard in the film this will have to do (unless I can do a better DVD rip).

It's here! I love it!
Bastard. I have to wait.

-
I'd like to see Silvestri's Young Guns 2 get a proper release.
Also:
The Abyss
Episodes 1 and 2 Ultimate editions
Conan The Barbarian Complete score
Back To The Future 2 and 3 Complete scores
Nothing special here though.

I just ordered my copy of BTTF from SAE but I may not see it before xmas because it takes a long time for anything to get to Australia. But at least I have it coming. I was very tempted to also get the 2 disc The Fugitive as well but I thought "Nah. Back To The Future is the one I want NOW"!
-
Why would you chop the music up like it's in the film? It flows much better if you don't mess around with tracked music...
Actually I think it flows surprisingly well and even with my edits it's still not a "hack" job. I thoroughly enjoy the tracks by themselves on the cd but I also enjoy listening to the music with my edits just as much.

My Titanic mixtape:
01 Back to Titanic 2.13 (A Life So Changed)
02 Distant Memories 2.24
03 Southampton 4.01
04 Leaving Port 3.26
05 Take Her to Sea, Mr Murdoch 4.31
06 Rose 2.52
07 The Portrait 4.43
08 Hard to Starboard 6.52
09 Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave 3.56
10 A Building Panic 7.22 (edited to delete the part that is in The Sinking)
11 The Sinking 5.05
12 Death of Titanic 8.26
13 A Promise Kept 6.02
14 Never an Absolution/A Life So Changed 3.03
15 An Ocean of Memories 7.58
16 Hymn to the Sea 6.25
I wanted it to be on one CD and a good listening experience, so not all of the 'extras' from Back to Titanic are included.
This score is next on my list to edit as I want to edit together a short section of A Building Panic into The Sinking thereby joining that and Death of Titanic together making one extended track as well as making a film version of the ending.
This is the way mine is looking so far:
1. Prologue 1:15 (edited from A Life so Changed)
2. Distant Memories 2:23
3. Southampton 4:01
4. Leaving Port 3:26
5. Take Her to Sea, Mr Murdoch 4:31
6. An Irish Party In Third Class 3:49
7. Rose 2:52
8. The Portrait 4:43
9. Hard to Starboard 6:52
10.Alexanders Ragtime Band 2:30
11.A Building Panic 3:04 (shortened)
12.Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave 3:56
13.Nearer My God To Thee 2:49
14.The Sinking, Astor's Death, Death of Titanic 13:42 (includes insert from A Building Panic)
15.A Promise Kept (film version) 5:47 (edited to include A Life So Changed from (approximately) 0:00 to 1:05)
16.Waiting for Absolution 1:10 (edited from A Life so Changed)
17.A Life So Changed 2:13 (will be edited to lead into Back To Titanic)
(work still in progress)
18.Back To Titanic (to be edited from Rose and Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave)
19.My Heart Will Go On and End Titles

I enjoyed Twilight Zone and TWOK, but I don't have BTTF or InnerSpace (yet).
Was it this year or last year we got the Indiana Jones box set and Alien?
Last year for the Indy boxset but not sure about Alien.
-
The Right Stuff?
Innerscape?
-
With the end of the year fast approaching I think we should look back and review some of the most exciting releases for 2009. Obviously Back to The Future is one of them.
What else was released, that in your mind, was a great release?
-
Maybe one of these will be Scrooged?
Back to the Future, Back to the Future, Back to the Future, Back to the.....oh...wait
