  1. mp3's.

Most of mine are currently at 128kbps only because I am still pretty much in the dark about FLAC files and have only just found out how to increase the bit rate when ripping. So now I have started to re-rip my music at 320kbps but this means all my edited tracks require re-editing from scratch to bring them up to the new bit rate.

  2. My Titanic mixtape:

01 Back to Titanic 2.13 (A Life So Changed)

    02 Distant Memories 2.24

    03 Southampton 4.01

    04 Leaving Port 3.26

05 Take Her to Sea, Mr Murdoch 4.31

    06 Rose 2.52

    07 The Portrait 4.43

    08 Hard to Starboard 6.52

09 Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave 3.56

10 A Building Panic 7.22 (edited to delete the part that is in The Sinking)

    11 The Sinking 5.05

    12 Death of Titanic 8.26

    13 A Promise Kept 6.02

14 Never an Absolution/A Life So Changed 3.03

15 An Ocean of Memories 7.58

16 Hymn to the Sea 6.25

I wanted it to be on one CD and a good listening experience, so not all of the 'extras' from Back to Titanic are included.

    See also here and here.

This score is next on my list to edit as I want to edit together a short section of A Building Panic into The Sinking thereby joining that and Death of Titanic together making one extended track as well as making a film version of the ending.

  3. Conan The Barbarian!

Really my dear fellow, you should contemplate this statement on the tree of woe.

Conan the Barbarian has several corny moments, but irresistable in the way the original Wicker Man is.

No. I say we sell him into slavery or chain him to a wheel of pain for that comment. Conan is a great film with a brilliant score. The only thing I don't like about the movie is the sounds of Conan's pain when in the pit fighting. That's just beyond bad! But I love the movie.

  4. Isn't there an "unofficial" issue of the complete score? Is this edit just a combination of tracks or is it actually unreleased music?

Yes there is and it is just DVD rips.

I made this using music from "Track 14 - Battle of The Mounds", "Track 1 - Anvil of Crom" then "Track 2 - Riders of Doom" from the Varese 16 track cd and edited using Audacity.

  5. For a long time I've wanted to make an expanded version of Track 12 The Kitchen/The Orgy by adding the battle music. I have tried on many occassions to do this and failed miserably but this morning I woke up and using three existing tracks on the OST did it in less than 2 hours.

It cannot say it is 100% perfect but it's good enough for me to enjoy it as much as the rest of the score.

The track in 10 minutes plus long and in MP3 format in 320kbps but I seriously doubt anybody would really want it. :D

  6. I keep meaning to create a thread about how brilliant Horner's Titanic score is.

Unfortunately, I think we are in the minority on this one. Many people would have been captured in the hype at the time but 12 years on I'm sure people see the film itself and the music as well ina completely different way to when they first saw the movie.

And that is something I am curious about. After 12 years does Titanic still stand as the great movie it was made out to be at the time and is the music still considered to be one of the all time great scores?

Also many people who loved Celine Dion's song find they can't stand it anymore. Why is this?

I think the film and the score are still great...and always will be. And I still enjoy the song too but only in the context of the movie, not as a standalone song.

  7. A fun project I put together; I mixed and edited the various album sinking sequence tracks to match the film version of the sinking sequence.

    For the fans ;)

Sounds good. It's definitely better than what I did a few years ago. I do know there is a couple of seconds of additional music missing from the soundtracks that is heard as the people are being sucked through the windows but really...it's only a couple of seconds and doesn't really affect the overall listening pleasure of what I think is still a great score.

  8. I bought the 2 disc extended version of Angels & Demons when it was released the other week and on the cover slip it has a yellow sticker that reads: "Includes FOOTAGE NOT SEEN IN THEATRES" then under that it has "Create your own music score with Hans Zimmer Music Studio - Powered by Sequel 2!"

Ok. Now I have searched the 2 discs and there is nothing that resembles anything like what it says above. I contacted Sony Pictures Home Entertainment here in Sydney and they said they will call me back.

Does anyone know what this "Create your own movie score with Hans Zimmer Music Studio" function is and is it on your DVD?

  9. Tell me, is that book a good one?

I've got the first print edition of this book (black cover with empty directors chair in water-filled dining room) and don't think there was anything in there I didn't already know. For such a huge project that it was I was surprised the book wasn't longer but it was an interesting book at the same time.

  10. Here is the First Blood cue breakdown, thanks to Charlie Brigden

As the title says. I wanted to put the CD in chronological order, but the score is all over the place on the OST, so I thought I'd take a closer look at what has to be one of Goldsmith's landmark scores, but never really seems to get mentioned much, despite the fact that a lot of it lays the groundwork for some of his most celebrated scores. The times in the film are approximate, as I did it from watching the film on YouTube and I'm not 100% the timing is the same. Still, enjoy!

After Teasle gives him a lift to the edge of town and tells him to clean himself up, Rambo defies him by walking back towards Hope, and is consequently arrested by Teasle for vagrancy.

Rambo refuses to give himself up, as the Police “drew first blood”.

    17. Mountain Hunt (2:06) 51:40 – 53:46 – OST Track 3 1:58 to 3:35

The local army goes after Rambo, and believe they’ve killed him after firing a rocket launcher into the cave entrance. The film version is longer than the OST, namely because the opening salvo of percussion is repeated several times.

After breaking down in front of Trautman, Rambo gives himself up and is led away by the Colonel.

    25. It’s A Long Road (3:20) 86:00 – 89:20 – OST Track 12

Dan Hill’s vocals run over the film’s end credits.

The OST also contains ‘It’s A Long Road (Instrumental)’, however this is incorrectly titled as it is quite different to the vocal track’s music. I’ve put it at the end of the CD and renamed it ‘Theme From “First Blood”’, which serves as a nice bookend as it shares material with ‘Home Coming’.

  11. You are correct, Jacksparrow. The track is longer on the CD.
