Well, to return to the thread, my feeling is that it perfectly underscores the quiet, tragic atmosphere of the film (which - Hollywood or not - handles it's topic with from a new perspective and with somewhat more feeling and insight than f.i. "Life is beautiful" or the tv-sereis "Holocaust", if anyone remembers that one.... ), but besides the maintheme ( that perfectly captures the essence of the film ), I must admit I'm not much captured by the slow, bare flow of minor-mode music. But of course, it's all a matter of taste. But I sure would'nt like "The Flying Theme" to accompany the scenes from the deathcamps though.

CE in many places sounds very much like Ligeti, Lutoslawski or Penderecki in the late 60'ties, POA sounds like crude Stravinsky. I'd very much like to hear the new edition. But a lot of soundtracks from back then ( and earlier ), sounds very artistic.
