More confessions by Eggers:
QuoteSlashfilm: A lot of people have been comparing your film to John Milius' "Conan the Barbarian," and I guess they both have a giant killing machine protagonist, are both influenced by Hamlet, and both have a Teutonic flavor to them. Yours is obviously much more rooted in actual history. Was that movie a touchstone for you at all for "The Northman?"
Robert Eggers: Absolutely. I didn't seek to make "Conan," but it was a movie that I watched a ton as a kid. There were a handful of deliberate nods to "Conan," but then sometime during filming I watched "Conan" and realized there were a lot of unintentional nods, too, because I watched it so many times.

It reminded me of Conan, Braveheart and...unsurprisingly...Hamlet.
Was Braveheart captured as a kid, raised as a slave, then took revenge as an adult on the evil wrongdoers?

I'm the opposite: wanted it to be much more matter of fact and less surreal-feeling.
Robert Eggers: ‘This is me trying to do Conan the Barbarian by way of Andrei Rublev.’
So this is why the story is so familiar! It's Conan The Barbarian!
I think with The Northman, Eggers wanted to make a genuine blockbuster movie with an Eggers touch (it kinda had to be a blockbuster to recuperate their money) and not bore the general public with a slow dreamy film a la Tarkovsky. Whatever his starting point was, the Conan The Barbarian part got the upper hand.

I think Bruce is more of The Mentalist type, they can't be saved.

I enjoy these series ... Not only is Mr. Blue Sky voted the happiest song ever, a scientist has proof that it is. This episode isn't just about the song, it's about E.L.O in general. It appears that they were initially more loved in the States than in the UK. Of course, their album A New World Record changed everything ...

Severance
I like it, it's good, but at the same time I always fall asleep after 20 minutes or so. It's almost as if the show has ASMR qualities. Very strange. Anyhoo, the show is worth it for that massive office building alone. I'm somewhere in the middle of episode 3 (fell asleep again).

It's baffling why HBO keeps doing that. Not that Raised By Wolves was the new Carnivale or Deadwood, far from it. But at least it offered something different than the Disney Star Wars series, which seems to be the only topics that are being discussed here these days.

I was really considering watching it...
Does the second season ends with a cliffhanger?
Yes, it ends with a new and serious threat to the people of the colony, setting up the next season.
Apparently the show performed very well so everyone is surprised.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow from The Wizard Of Oz?

Not sure what you mean, Alex. The final song is a snippet of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, preceded by a passable, but not brilliant, rendition of Tomorrow Never Knows. Immediately preceding that is If Leaving Me Is Easy. I like that one.
My LP (vinyl) ends with 'If Leaving Me Is Easy'. That's the song I'm talking about. It's how this album should end. Maybe the CD has a different track order with some extra bonus tracks?

I bought the first one (Face Value) but that's it. I guess you have them all?
My favorite is the last song of the album, which, if I'm not mistaken, is also Collins' favorite.

A waste of Burton's talent whose best work isn't funny.

I was literally just asking in case he wanted to elaborate, so y’know, we could discuss things on a discussion forum
Some fans are overprotective when it comes to Marvel/Disney/Star Wars. After all, it's all they got.

If it's true for Star Wars, it's true for Marvel.

Not Generation Z. Will flop. People didn't even want to see West Side Story. Netflix is throwing away money.

The Last Duel was pretty good, Richard.
